For what I can only assume is to speed up completion progress for Breakneck. One less round means a quicker match completion. Welcome to Destiny. Where losing is actually the most efficient means in which to acquire something powerful meant to be earned.
NO player should EVER be encouraged to do something that is not winning in competitive modes. EVER. These PvP quests steps are a massive hinderance to the enjoyment of this game.
Last night I saw a post in Fireteams titled “speed losses in gambit”........
This. Is. Why. We. Can’t. Have. Nice. Things. Bungie PLEASE stop doing this. It’s a broken way of doing things.
Edit: Thanks to all the honest people that admit that they WANT to lose the second round if the first round was a loss. I understand this feeling. I feel the same way. This is exactly why this is an issue and why PvP quest steps are a bad idea, as well as why Gambit in general could be different in a way that eliminates this sort of thing.

Edited by Dubufu: 12/10/2018 6:30:42 PMI mean, gambit stats don't really matter and the gamemode is treated as a joke/fun mode. It's not a competitive mode so I don't treat it as such I rarely get demotivated but with gambit full of sweaties who punch players for mistakes and send hatemail, I become the laziest player you will meet. Usually focusing down bounties and doing nothing to benefit the team. Hell, I'll camp the portal if I have to. With friends I will give it my all but with randoms I could care less And if they really get pissy Feed invaders your deaths so that it heals the primeval :) There is no incentive. It's not a true comp mode. You don't lose glory for losing and even if you did...so what? You get the same rewards whether you win or lose, gambit stats are the last thing you should care about, and you get your daily powerful gear. I don't actually think that gambit should be a comp mode. Though when the drifter expansion comes out, I do think they should expand on it.
