I don't know if anyone feels the same way...but I think they just suck.
In pve they don't do very much damage for how little ammo they have.
In PvP, their crappy blast radius and bad hit detection are obnoxious as hell.
They have to reload after every single shot.
Potential buffs:
Increase damage by 15%.
Increase maximum reserve to 10 rounds (I'm pretty sure they only carry like 6-7 extra rounds, which is pretty low).
Maybe allow them to have 2 shots per mag-er round...explosive...? You know what I mean.
Increase blast radius a bit, no splash damage weapon should have to rely on direct hits for consistent damage.
Fighting lion has a good radius, maybe tweak the other lightweight GL to have similar radius, like 10 points off.

They should be buffed to 12 rounds with no gear with reserves on it, or a damage buff. Not both, though. It doesn't have a place in pve right now. Buffing damage would make it better for burst dps on bosses, or the ammo increase would make it way more viable for add clearing. In pvp, it needs a buff to blast radius in status grenades, or simply more interesting options. Also, ambitious assassin is roleable on militia's birthright, so you can actually have 2 in the chamber, and it requires a kill to get two so it's fair. Also, they're super inconsistent at one shotting, and I think that's due to lag, so idk about that. And, undo proximity grenades blast radius nerf, but only on one shot launchers.

Yes, one shots need some definite buffs, especially to blast radius.
