I mean, I'd be happy with just being able to color specific regions of gear with a shader.

I’m not 100% sure if we are imagining the same thing. I’m referring to each side of the shader itself is chosen by the player as far as color. Could even go as far as each side having two options rendering each individual into 8 segments. Each side has a color/texture slot. Standard color/texture would be smooth gray. If you are talking about going in and choosing specific spots on the gear individually, that would be cool. But that’s a ton of individual code and work. It would also take them longer to get us more “different” styles of gear.

Yeah, I'm ignorant when it comes to coding lol, but I just meant instead of the game's pre-determined colors picked for the gear say, Metro shift you could choose if your cloak, bond or mark was the dark blue, grey or black it has in it. D2's shaders just don't compliment gear well like in D1, might just be me though. Although what you said probably would be easier and less complicated for them lol.
