The Attunement of Control super gives little to none super charge back. Is it working as intended?

As you can see in the video below, the Super deactivation gives about a fifth of the super bar by just activating and deactivating the Super. Is this intended? Because I have no idea why someone would cut more than half their Super duration for nearly zero energy recovery. Could we reach a compromise? Maybe getting back half of the energy you didn't spend? Ex: If you deactivate on 50% energy you get 25% back. If you deactivate on 80% you get 40% back. Right now it feels very low, and kind of pointless. If this is the balance it's supposed to have, why have it as an ability in the first place? Activation and deactivation as soon as possible gives about 20 of the energy back even though we haven't spent even a 10% of the total: https://streamable.com/oqcec Activation and deactivation at 75% gives about a 5% charge back: https://streamable.com/jigar Activation and deactivation at 50% gives 0% super charge back: https://streamable.com/4uwhl What I mean to say is, if you plan on returning nothing at all with a regular early deactivation(50%, for example) why make it a feature at all? I don't understand why people should be looking to use as short a burst of ult as they can only to get a meager reward. It doesn't make sense at all. I'd rather have an extra perk on that slot than having the deactivation thing, if the deactivation recovery is nearly nonexistent. The only situation in which I see myself benefitting from this ability is if my finger had slipped and I had activated the ability without wanting to. And even then I'd be mad due to the recovered energy.

  • Hunters can have unlimited supers with an exotic Titans can have unlimited supers with an exotic Warlocks... get to buff others infinitely with an exotic, which is good yes but nowhere near as good as unlimited supers and is entirely dependant on the warlock getting kills and assists, meaning unlike the other classes your "unlimited" super is entirely dependant on your skill. Titans have infinite one shot shoulder charge melee Hunters get infinite knives Warlocks get infinite amounts of the worst grenade in the game, and that is only good if you wanna have infinite healing grenades but bad if you want to actually do damage (they are still the worst grenade even after the grenade buffs Right now, the class balance is much better than it used to be but titans and hunters are still the kings of crucible, and warlocks are about even in pve with them. In my experience, with limited testing you only get enough super back to make a difference when you cancel Chaos Reach immediately after activation (around 40-50%), and if you go to around 60-70% you don't get any super back at all. Keep in mind that while it is possible the most damaging dps super, it is still out damaged by top tree hammer titans in raids, and you only get it for 4.5 seconds normally, and for around 6 seconds (possibly more, if you find yourself in a perfect situation with lots of adds lined up) with the boots. The issue with the cancellation effect isn't how much you save max, its the diminishing returns. You can currently only save any super to matter if you stop it immediately after, and the damage you get isn't enough to kill most majors, or generate any orbs which all but means its a wasted slot in the tree. If your better off waiting for your arc lines to get your super back you have an issue, since arc lines are there almost exclusively to take the edge off this incredibly light hungry laser. Besides, its actually a known bug and bungie's looking into it. Don't expect infinite microsupers once its fixed, but it will go a long way to getting the quality of life issues the mid tree stormcallers are experiencing. Besides, outside of damage this class has nothing going for it. Can't see through walls, stay permanently invisible, recharge its health through melee, reflect bullets, kill you around corners, ect. Its pretty much the best at taking out bosses and that's it.

  • I think that it might be a bug, but I don’t have any evidence for that.

  • As I explained to the other individual: It would be massively overpowered if otherwise. It's a long range, practically insta-kill superweapon. I've killed seven taken thrall, one of them a major, spawned three orbs and deactivated to have 10% of my super already there. No. It's working as intended and WE do not need it increased at all.
