Is this a joke? I don't care how much content is released for Warframe because it's never going to be any fun. In comparison to Destiny, Warframe has: - terrible shooting mechanics - lots of sponge bosses - 3rd person perspective (not a good thing) - boring guns, weapons, and abilities - terrible guides that basically tell you nothing - no interesting mods, perks, or anything involving creativity - EXTREMELY boring and repetitive worlds and playspaces - pay to win I think it's pretty obvious why Destiny is more popular. You can keep playing that snooze fest if you want, but myself and most other players would rather play something that doesn't feel like a chore.

  • 3rd person perspective is not bad. I've played some good 3rd person games before. That should never be a reason to NOT play a game. You might be missing out with that attitude.

  • It's a reason for me personally to not play it. I hate 3rd person, and so do a bunch of other people. I could just try to ignore it, but it's still there no matter what I do.

Most of what you said applies to Destiny 2. - lots of sponge bosses. CHECK - boring guns, weapons, and abilities CHECK CHECK CHECK - terrible guides that basically tell you nothing CHECK - no interesting mods, perks, or anything involving creativity DOUBLE CHECK - EXTREMELY boring and repetitive worlds and playspaces CHECK Yup, I think this covers Destiny 2 quite well.

  •
- lots of sponge bosses. CHECK
Destiny bosses have had mechanics since The Taken King. Good try though.
- boring guns, weapons, and abilities CHECK CHECK CHECK
Actually, no. Destiny has extremely unique guns and abilities that are clearly well designed. Warframe has a bunch of guns that feel almost the same. It's abilities aren't much different.
- terrible guides that basically tell you nothing CHECK
Nope. Destiny tells you how to do stuff. It tells you how to infuse your gear and how to find certain materials. Warframe makes you find it all yourself, and if you can't it tells you to go -blam!- yourself.
- no interesting mods, perks, or anything involving creativity DOUBLE CHECK
Destiny's mod system is still being worked on, so that gets a pass until Forsaken. Perks are very interesting, so that gets a pass too.
- EXTREMELY boring and repetitive worlds and playspaces CHECK
Definitely not. Destiny's worlds have never ceased to amaze me. I've been taking time in the faction rallies to wander around the EDZ, Nessus, and Io to find cool stuff. A lot of the time it's accidental. I do it because I'm curious on what's out there. Warframe has none of that. Its worlds are basically just boring, repetitive mazes that have absolutely no artwork whatsoever. I don't know how they make their worlds, but by how repetitive they are I wouldn't be surprised if they're procedurally generated in some way. Not a bad idea for some things, but when that's all there is it gets pretty boring.
Actually, no. Destiny has extremely unique guns and abilities that are clearly well designed.
LMAO!!!! Yeah, Bungie probably feels that 100 auto rifles that all feel and act the same are unique too.
Perks are very interesting, so that gets a pass too.
ROFLMAO!!!! Yeah, those endless reload speed perks are amazing...choke.....cough....cough.....LOL Routine perks that you could find on garden variety gear in D1, is now considered exotic. I'm supposed to be impressed?
Destiny's mod system is still being worked on, so that gets a pass until Forsaken.
Uh, shouldn't this have been done before the game came out? Bungie is about to charge you a ton of money for a "DLC" that should have been part of the game....and the fan boys cheer. LOL. This never gets old. Thanks for the laughs, guy. You made my night.

  • Most of those are a matter of opinion. What you find interesting/boring may differ greatly from what I find interesting/boring. For example:
Destiny has extremely unique guns and abilities that are clearly well designed.
I would have to disagree with this statement. After roughly 1500hrs between Destiny 1 and 2, I found that while the abilities are somewhat interesting, the only real difference between the sub-classes is during the 3-10 seconds your Super is active. As for the weapons [in D2], I felt that every weapon within an archetype was exactly the same (like high RoF ARs, or Low RoF Pulse Rifles), and only a few exotics stand out in my mind as feeling "exotic" (Wardcliff Coil for one). Hopefully random rolls with The Forsaken will bring back that feeling of every drop being unique. Destiny has beautiful worlds, there's really no denying that. Digital Extremes is working on bringing some of that to Warframe with the Plains of Eidolon and the upcoming Fortuna expansion.

  •
Destiny has beautiful worlds, there's really no denying that.
Sure, but so did Destiny 1. There's no improvement there. Most games out there can give you that. It's nothing special.

  • They may only be opinions, bu they're opinions that most people share. Just because the idea that Destiny is better than Warframe is an opinion doesn't disregard the fact that it's the most popular one.

  • I don't have to speak for everyone to know what's popular. That's something than anyone can find out. I really don't see why this is a relevant conversation anymore when you look at Forsaken. We had this debate months ago when Destiny 2 has serious problems that supported your side. Now that those problems are fixed, you have no argument.

  • But you do claim to speak for everyone, apparently, considering you're stating what's popular without actually looking at it. PS4 had to release Destiny 2 for free alongside its first real, major expansion. It doesn't take a world-machine to see that doesn't bode well.

  •
But you do claim to speak for everyone, apparently, considering you're stating what's popular without actually looking at it.
I'm not, I'm stating facts based on player population and overall conversation about gaming as a whole. Destiny 2 is a more popular game than Warframe. That's a fact.
PS4 had to release Destiny 2 for free alongside its first real, major expansion.
Uh, yeah so what? A lot of games do things like that to boost sales. That has nothing to do with success. I remember Titanfall 2 went on a great sale a few months after release. It was never super popular, but It was nowhere close to a failure.

Destiny 2 lost more than 80% of it's player base in the first couple months, and as far as I can tell, it continues to drop. Warframe's player base is trending upward. Obviously it peaks after reveals and releases, and dips during dry spells like any other online game, but it is steadily gaining popularity. Destiny gets maybe 600-800k daily players (according to 3rd party sites from several months ago, since Bungie won't give out the real number). I couldn't find a concurrent count for Destiny, but according to Steam Charts, Warframe is the 4th most concurrently played game, averaging anywhere from 50-80k players at any moment. That number doesn't account for players through the stand-alone launcher or consoles. If you take the Destiny 2 daily logins and divide that by 24[hrs], that's only about 25-33k players per hour (obviously this isn't exact). Edit because this is amusing now: Warframe just beat it's record for concurrent players; 111062. Again, this is just through Steam, and doesn't account for stand-alone launcher or console players, whereas the Destiny 2 numbers were across the 3 platforms.
They may only be opinions, but they're opinions that most people share. Just because the idea that Destiny is better than Warframe is an opinion doesn't disregard the fact that it's the most popular one.
Maybe you'd like to try a different word there, since 'fact' clearly isn't applicable.

  • I just said that you should never pass on a game because its a 3rd person. I've played some cool 3rd person games and to be honest, when your in combat, you not noticing if your in 1rst or 3rd. Silly reason to pass on a game.

  • It really is. I generally prefer 3rd person so I can see my character and the customization like ghost recon wild lands does. Allows you to aim down the sight first person but also not.

  • Bullet sponge bosses? LOL. People have been able to take down the eidolons solo. The whole point of the end game is to be OP as possible. Almost all of those things Destiny 2 has as well. 3rd person is just a preference it doesn't factually make the game better or worse, but try doing advanced parkour in first person and not get motion sickness.

  • I've played around 100 hours of Warframe. That should be enough to get a good idea of the content. If not, then that's another problem to add to the list.

  •
- terrible shooting mechanics
Terrible if you're talking FPS, because the game's Third Person, but apple and oranges.
- lots of sponge bosses
Except that an endgame player can literally oneshot any boss that doesn't have a 'Before you kill me, I'll do this!' mechanic that prevents them from dying immediately and then even some of those can be killed instantly. Looking at you, Sargus Ruk.
- 3rd person perspective (not a good thing)
An opinion. Imagine trying to play, for instance, Dark Souls or God of War in first person. You might not like it, but in Warframe, First person would give people motion sickness, and that's a factually tested thing.
boring guns, weapons, and abilities
Because a Fully Automatic Hand-shotgun that, when you kill things repeatedly with it, spawns a ghostly copy of itself in your other hand is 'boring'. Or Dropping your guns to pull out a set of energy-claws while becoming invulnerable so that you can go on a murderous, endless rampage is totally what people consider 'boring'. Let me tell you, 6 variations of the same SMG that shoots void energy is 'exciting', just like becoming a half-rate Emperor Palpatine for a few seconds is just so incredibly enthralling. This point is not only heavily opinionated and biased, but dumbfounding and inane at the same time.
- terrible guides that basically tell you nothing
So far, this is the only argument you've made that isn't opinionated or just dumb. Though, to be fair, its easy to say that Destiny also holds your hand way too much for a simple FPS.
- no interesting mods, perks, or anything involving creativity
Are you... uh. Mentally Handicapped, mate? Warframe is literally about creativity with builds. Hell, there's a handful of warframes that do things that you want them to do even better with NEGATIVE stats. Like dropping the power on Nova so that you can make enemies go faster for farming. Or lowering duration on Trinity to make it so that she instantly fulls up your 'mana bar' instead of taking 8 seconds. If anything, the vast majority of people who complain about uninteresting mods, perks or anything involving creativity level their complaints directly at Destiny 2's pitiful one-or-the-other class perks and completely underwhelming weapon perks that only minimally impact most weapons performance. I mean, it wasn't but a month ago where BUNGiE themselves had to tweak Exotic Gear to feel like it was actually impactful to the gameplay, whereas I can make almost any gun in Warframe melt the face off of any boss, enemy or target in the game that I choose.
- EXTREMELY boring and repetitive worlds and playspaces
As a Veteran of Warframe with over 4k hours, I can agree to this. However, Destiny 2's offense on this end is even worse that Warframe's. Why is that? Because Warframe at least Randomizes things via a tileset system. Destiny just gives you the same places to run around that do the exact same evens on a preset timer where things loop back around ever 35 minutes or so.
- pay to win
No. Just. You've never played warframe for more than a few hours, clearly. Lemme tell ya something. Remember how I said I've got 4k+ hours in warframe? Yeah, Hi. Tell me how Warframe is "Pay to Win" When i can spend an hour farming up a part for a Prime Warframe and then trade it to another player for that Premium Currency that makes Warframe 'Pay to Win'? I need clarification on how a game is "Pay to Win" when I can get the paid currency without paying for it? Seems like you're just full of shit to me, but who knows?
I think it's pretty obvious why Destiny is more popular.
Is 'Popular' a Synonym for 'Lost 95% of it's playerbase over the course of 5 months, where 3.1 million suddenly became ~380k.'? or is 'Unpopular' a synonym for '200k concurrent players on PC alone with more than 100k split between the consoles'?
