The Archival-Darkness Concept Part 1/7 - Tenebrae Ship Classes and Arsenal

<So, here we are. The reupload of a mega theory I had and the culmination of about a dozen sources ranging from concept art to theories about the Final Shape to watching half a dozen movies to what we've seen/heard of in game. So let me start with the Tetrahedral Ships. The ones seen at the end of D2's campaign. In this part, I won't be going into depth about the BIG one, the Mothership. That will be for a later date. Instead, I wanted to share some ideas about these ships, because, let's be honest here, having only the same type of ship would be kinda boring. So, let's get into the first step of these posts, shall we? https://i.imgur.com/5HgGlNP.jpg Cruiser (marked as Standard) This ship type's purpose is to provide a general space for its numerous crew members and be the backbone to the Fleet. It comes equipped with shields, one central laser, and turrets that cover the "lines" or "seams" of the ship. The striped areas double as massive ventilation shafts, releasing an excessive amount of gas. This can be used strategically, similar to the smoke the Red Legion used to further mask their approach in the first day of the Red War. Not that there would be a need, but just in case its shields fail or an enemy is illusive enough, it's nice to get the jump on them. The central beam area can be repurposed as a gravity lift similar to any Covenant Cruiser from Halo. This is the most numerous ship type. Destroyer Ships designed purely for combat. Coming in with one central laser and 4 outer beams (each less powerful than the Cruiser), a ton of defensive turrets (especially under the top half), and an arc cannon capable of shattering an entire planet with one well placed shot, it is a force to be reckoned with. Having no "striped patterns", it instead ventilates heat through the... well... vents lining the front. The central beam can also be repurposed as a gravity lift. Capital Ship This ship type is built to be heavily protected, hence its lack of docking bays outside of the bottom row. It is equipped with defensive turrets lining the "seams" and the top layer below the massive bridge. It ventilates heat through the bottom of the ship. The central beam doubles as a gravity lift but is also twice as powerful as a Cruiser's, easily capable of going through celestial objects. https://i.imgur.com/DmxMtNz.jpg Every ship comes with impenetrable shields. No missile, projectile, or planet-busting superweapon can crack it. The only hope of bringing it down is to either remotely infiltrate it and manually shut it off, or find a secret McGuffin and shut them all down at once. Ships can also absorb Light through their vents. This gives strengthens the capabilities of it. The beam can be stronger, it can go faster, etc. Basically, don't make a Burst of Light at this thing... or any of them. It just makes things worse. Anyway, this is where we come to the part where we discuss size. In order for these ships to be an actual threat and have a crew bigger than 20 people, I believe each ship must be -blam!-ing huge. So I reduced the number of potential ships from 100 to around 70 and I made each one ~700 kilometers long or less. This puts it around the estimated size of a Hive Warship and a little over half the size of the Leviathan... also estimated size. Every ship here is based off this concept art and the end credits scene for D2 https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/001/257/788/large/dorje-bellbrook-db-destiny-194.jpg?1443927684 2/7 -https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/246854681?sort=0&page=0 3/7 -https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/246855041 4/7 -https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/246855677 5/7 -https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/246863872 6/7 -https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/246864125 7/7 -https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/246865078 Imgur Album:https://imgur.com/a/Q8oOVSh Imgur Album 2:https://imgur.com/a/b9luf9Y Please note that pretty much everything here spawned from my own head so if this actually ends up being the case then damn. TL:DR - The Archival Mind spends another 30 minutes explaining fanfiction with the promise of 6 more posts about it.>
