It feels like you're misunderstanding a core concept. All worms aren't fed by death. Oryxs worm, and it's subsequent worms spawn, get fed by killing. Each of the 3 sisters worms are fed by their true desire. Oryx has a worm fed by destruction, the others are fed by exploration and knowledge, iirc. It's been a long time since I've been through grimoire cards, but I'm fairly certain about the worms being fed by different means. But what do I know, apparently the stranger is Willa bray, so shit from D1 can be anything in D2...

  • It could be that once you get powerful enough (Oryx, Savathûn, Xivu Arath, Warpriest etc.) "feeding your true nature" and tithes are how to appease your worm, but as a lowly Acolyte you simply must kill

  • Appreciate the correction, but honestly it's a character we've never seen and will probably never see, so I'm not stressing the fact that I put the wrong name. So much of the lore in this game is moot

  • I understand that sentiment. I dunno. I’m holding out hope. It seems they learned their lesson from Curse of Osiris on breaking canon and retconning. And with the new focus on lore coming with Year 2 it’s looking bright. I feel like it’ll get better from here. But I’m also hopelessly loyal to the mystery surrounding this game. Whether that’s good or bad is debatable 😂

  • The three natures of the three siblings were definitely a means of feeding their worm, but only if the end result was death. If oryx sought knowledge, then he better kill with that knowledge, if savathun sought cunning, she has to kill with that cunning, xivu arath's nature leads to death no matter what (war). Ultimately the end result must be death and then as he explains the soulfire is most likely the form it takes when it's passed as tribute or used for power.

No, oryx and his sisters must feed the worms inorder to keep living. The books of sorrow states they nust kill in order ti feed.

  • I thought that the deal was that they were given immense power but had to feed into their true nature.

  • Their nature is their weapon. Their weapons grant death. Death increases their power. Their power, through death, feeds the worms. And, at the end, their nature continues to grow stronger, as do the worms' hunger. -- It's a cycle. A cycle of death by using the weapons at their desposal. However, the end result is always the same.

  • They were given immortality, that's what the worms gave them. Their natures were another way to feed the worm. Like oryx was the navigator, so he must explore. Savathin tricky. And xivu war but they all had to kill to feed their worm.
