I feel like swords in destiny are really cool power weapons. And in mid game/PVP they are really strong. But even in PVP they arent better then say... A rocket. And in engame PVE they arent usefull because you die before you can get up to a target and even if you do get up to the target they usually just melee you back killing you instead.
These are some ideas I have had on making swords more viable in a number of way, the main being making swords proc your melee abilities when striking and being buffed from any melee damage bonus's. The main reason this is my favorite is it doesnt really change much about PVP, but it can be a huge buff to PVE for swords and allow them to shine in more than one way depending on your build. A defender titan would be able to heal from melee kills, and proc an overshield, while a hunter could have increased range and a dissorient, that they could refresh while dodge. It would also make warlocs devour proc easier, even though it already works with the sword. I think the gameplay variety from this is the best solution. Thougy any one of the other solutions could be fine as well.
Im not really a fan of the ammoless swords however because that just makes them noobtoob weapons for PVP.
But I would love to see your thoughts and please keep the conversation constructive. Thank you.
