Do Taken Hive still have Worms?

Just a idle thought I had. Do they still need their Worm after they become Taken? I know that once Fallen become Taken they no longer require Ether.

The power to Take, strips you of What Was, and gives you knew form. No. No worms anymore.

    • Possibly? Considering the Ogre in TTK, and Oryx taking himself, they obviously keep their importance, but perhaps they don’t have to feed their worms. The Thrall shadows spawned by Wizards probably don’t have worms.

    • No Think of the taken as puppets suspended by darkness While the worms fill this role due standard hive as a link to the darkness that gives them immortality and space magic The taken are simply puppets There is a chance the worm is still in the taken as a taken worm that dies and disappears at the same time as the taken

    • Okay that’s a good question, but I would have to say no. The Hive need the Worms for sustenance and for immortality, but considering when you are taken, you are immortal (as long as you keep feeding on light). I think that whenever a hive was taken, the worm is either left alone and is set somewhere safe, or more likely, the worm is consumed by the darkness. I say these two because of a few points. 1. The worm is it’s own separate entity. Like a symbiotie. Think of like Venom, it’s not the man, but both man and Symbiote that makes Venom. 2. Whenever a Hive “dies” from a headshot, their worm will appear, and is liable to be shot. Further proving that it’s a separate being. 3. A taken being, let’s say a hive knight in this case, slowly has their will erased. Their memories, their thoughts, etc. Chances are it would actually take more effort to consume both Knight and Worm and place them together Overall, I say the worm stays alive, while the hive is consumed

    • <I don't think they require the worm, but considering that the worm and the Hive have a symbiosis, the worm gets taken anyway>
