What I think of Destiny 2

Destiny was one of my favorite games for a long time and I put in more hours then I had in any other game and I eagerly preordered D2. D2 has been na interesting experience so far. Some changes I find hard to agree with, while others I can understand. I liked the new enemies and the fact that the cabal now had a reason to exist, and things such as the more cinematic story, and the addition of class abilities. I don't really know how I feel about the new weapons system, or the elements of what I would call "Destiny Science" such as the numbers for grenade damage and stuff, but I agree that some things were quite disenchanting, such as the unfortunately short story of CoO and the nature of the strikes derived from it that were recycled story maps, not to mention the failure to include previous worlds, but the thing that I find so interesting is the commentary about it. Part way through year 3, people kept requesting a D2 on the forums, and now that we have it everyone is so proud to be retreating to D1 or PUBG or something like that, but this was something the community previously requested. The other aspect of the community feedback that interests me is the comparison between D1 and D2 and how that is a large part of people's reasoning when complaining. You may disagree, but I don't believe that it is appropriate to cite D1 at the end of it's support as the golden standard for D2's launch, but conversely, I also agree that as a sequel, D2 should be superior to vanilla Destiny, which I believe it is. As an example, I would say that the story of the base game this time is coherent, but that does not mean that D2 is better to D1 in every way and vice versa. Meanwhile, Y3 D1 had taken three years, and much more money from each of us (to buy each expansion) to become the complete game most of us loved and is not a fair standard against D2. While improvements should have been kept, I don't think the quantity of content is something that should be expected to carry over between something like 150$ worth of content over 3 years against 60$ (now 80 in total). In my opinion the most apples to apples comparison we can make is between The Dark Below and The Curse of Osiris. If we look at this, TDB gave us four story missions to CoO's 5, and they each gave two strikes to their games, albeit recycled ones for CoO. CoO's greatest shortcomings fall to the marketing, and precedent. First off, the suggestion of the infinite forest being a tree of infinite realities could have been used in a much cooler way such as procedurally generated dungeons as my suggestion, and strikes that were not made by changing text, as well as ending D1 with a small expansion akin to HoW or TDB in size so as not to leave us expecting the size of TTK or ROI. Ultimately, what you make of my ramblings if you made it this far is up to you, and you can do with my thoughts what you want, but here are my opinions, leave yours in response.
