Game Freezes - Meltdown/Spectre Update creates issues

As per https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/236455208: TioScorps#2724 Configuration Info: CPU: i7-7700k (factory clock) GPU: Asus Strixx GTX1080ti (default settings) RAM: 16gb of 3000mhz G.Skill DDR4 memory (default latency) GPU Driver Version: 391.35 Operating System: Windows 10 64bit, Version 1709 - Updated DxDiag: https://pastebin.com/g6UdgXDM Issue Information: Destination/Activity: All Description: Around the time that intel and microsoft deployed the Spectre/Meltdown updates for bios and windows (so around january or so), I begun to experience freezes ingame while playing D2. At the time I made a post here and despite a couple of users reporting the same, no real solution could be found. Because many applications and programs were experiencing issues around that time due to the updates I assumed it would be something that would be fixed in an update by bungie eventually. Still, I wanted to play the game still. So I began my own search for a solution. Forums, reddits, twitter, wtv I could find to provide a solution. And I did. The solution was to roll back and uninstall all the windows updates from december onwards (namely the one specific to the spectre meltdown thing and all those that followed) and disable the windows update service directly. I did so and it worked. Game ran magnificiently smooth like that. No issue. Then I stopped playing D2. As many did, I moved to other games. About 3 weeks ago I thought "well, you should enable windows update and you should update your machine since, by now, every software manufacturer must have patched all their softwares" and so I re-enabled the updates and updated my PC. And all ran smoothly...or so I thought. Since I hadn't played D2, I didn't know if it would be ok or not; I assumed it was. Today, I decided to play and test the new "update" to the game and see if I could find some fun in it once more. Hold and behold... freezes. Same as before. Complete system freezes once every 10 seconds or so. Unplayable. I assumed that by now, with all updates done, the issue would have been solved but...nope. Game still freezes. And no other game freezes. No other software has an issue. And the issue had been solved by uninstalling the spectre/meltdown updates and preventing them from being installed. I don't run any stream or anything in parallel to the game other than spotify and discord. So, any idea other than disabling the updates (which I won't do anymore)? Anyone else has the same issue? And can I please get a reply from "staff" this time? So that perhaps I can get the issue fixed.

    • Yea I’m having this same issue and for the longest time I couldn’t figure out why Destiny 2 was freezing and crashing while none of my other games where. I thought well okay it could be my overclock so I disabled all of my overclclocks and still the same issue. So I thought okay maybe uninstall and reinstall? Still the same issue. I completely forget about that Windows update though and now it all makes sense! That’s around when my game started acting up as well. You would think with Bungie being as big of a company as they are that they would have created a patch for this freezing problem. There’s no excuse that they haven’t fixed this yet and the fact they they don’t really have any customer support is just mind boggling to me lol.
