<Another lore post inevitably going to be filled with Folklore and Retconned comments... Anyway. The Vex have been known for minute time travel and the ability to convert organisms and planets into machines. One thing they have always done was simulate their future, to know what would happen IF or WHEN. Today I have 4 futures that the Vex have simulated, in the order of which they appear. [u][b]Timeline 1 - Healthy Heart[/b][/u] This is the future that the Exo Stranger encountered. It was supposedly created when the Vex powered up the Heart of the Black Garden enough to grant the Sol Progeny paracausal abilities. Think of 3 REAL Atheons. Surprisingly, the Vex did not eliminate all of their enemies. However, they did a massive number. The Hive do not exist, the Taken do not exist. The Traveler is gone. After that, it's pretty unknown. Most of what happens can only be inferred by whatever the Stranger says. [u][b]Timeline 2 - The End of the Vex[/b][/u] After we destroyed the (at the time) sole "acausal power generator" and as soon as Oryx arrived, the Vex realized that they had nothing to defeat the Hive and Taken with. The Vault was overrun and thus the Collective reached their conclusion; the Vex would end by the hands of the Taken. Even if Oryx was killed (a Will long dead, eons ago), the survival of his Echo is all that's needed. This future seems virtually identical to the future seen in the Vault of Glass during the raid, just more Blight. This is a likely cause for Descendant Vex looking the way they do, considering that the Vex's goals are survival through Conversion. Luckily for the Vex, our Guardian kicked Oryx's ass and killed ALL of his Echoes. This future was averted. [u][b]Timeline 3 - The Dark Future[/b][/u] Once the Vex realized that anything and everything was a threat to them and their architecture, they simulated the "perfect future". The Dark Future is one where only the Vex live. There is no Light, there is no Darkness, there is no life, and the Sun has burned out (possibly due to the inevitable destruction of the Almighty). The Vex pushed production on the equations to the Dark Future once the Traveler awoke, and Panoptes was at the head of it. It was rather close to finding a way to end it all, but we killed it... which leads into Timeline 4. [u][b]Timeline 4 - The DARK Future[/b][/u] With the Almighty possibly having changed the timeline to where the Future is always a "dark" future, this future is nearly identical to the previous iteration of the Dark Future. The only difference is that there is one more thing that lives with the Vex... or rather lives to destroy it. The Darkness rules this future. A shadow to eclipse Vex eyes. And so, the Vex are pretty much -blam!-ed again. It's funny because each of these futures after Timeline 1 were created by us... and both "-blam!-ed" futures have to do with the Darkness.
