For those that blame Activision...

I put this as a reply to another post and thought it would be interesting to see further discussion on. So For those that blame Activision, consider this: The entire warcraft series (from wc1 to current WoW) the starcraft series dont suck, neither did blood omen, angry birds was amusing when it came out, candy crush did and is doing surprisingly well, the CoD franchise I'm no fan of but many love it, crash bandicoot was fun back in the day, Doom has always been fun, guitar hero was great in the beginning, gun was decent, quake was another badass series, i thought jedi outcast was good, tony hawk games were popular in the beginning, vampire the masquerade was great, people love wolfenstein. And thats just most the games ive played, old games and new. And you know what they all have in common Activision And while some have/had microtransactions. None are dealing with the things destiny is now. This shitstorm is bungies own doing. Activision just wants their investment paid back(or at the very least to get their moneys worth) and doesn't care how bungie decides to do it. Discuss, and leave the trolling and insults elsewhere.

        • Activision is all about the micro transactions. Activision is the devil. I said it in another post and you replied with this wall of BS. Activision killed D2 whether you like it or not.
Activision is to blame for the state of D2... Not Bungie.
I don’t blame Activision or Bungie, I blame their contract. This bi-annual release schedule results in a development period that’s far to fast for pseudo-mmo style game like this. It doesn’t excuse the issues with launch day D1 (those are due to canning Staten’s story), but the short dev time and the suspected rewrites just resulted in far too many things having been culled out of D2 to get the game out in time. If Bungie wants to save this series, they need to sit down with Activision and renegotiate their contract, then build an actual vision for the rest of the franchise.

              • I think when Bungie was with Microsoft they saw better times. I don’t know if it’s because of the publishers or whatever it is, somethings off. Bungie has had a history of making great games.

                • So by that logic I should put up with Activision, or another example, EA, simply because those who work under them managed to get something good out the door? Rhetorical, no I shouldn't. Screw AAA publishers, blood sucking parasites is what they are.

For many fanboys, its harder to blame Bungie, the studio they admired for years to be the one at fault. Activision is a foreign entity, scapegoating all of the filth is a necessary defense mechanism to shield them from being personally hurt when understanding that it was Bungie themselves that screwed them over. Those who understand this and accept this is what happened are the people who see Bungie for who they really are. The rest who are unwilling to see this because they don't want a part of their identity [they attached themselves too much into this] damaged because they're not strong enough to let go are the ones who will be the fanboys for life, whatever happens, they will standby Bungie to the end. They think they're being noble and loyal by backing Bungie during this harsh time. What they don't understand is they're damaging the video game industry by being so supportive of practices that don't deserve a financial return. It's these white knights that in their own mind are protecting Bungie's reputation that are actually playing the biggest role in damaging Bungie's rep even more by enabling behavior like this to continue.
