Could Oryx return in the form of Aurash?

There are a few things we must understand before I go into my theory: 1) Aurash is who Oryx was before the pact was made with the worms that turned her, her sisters, and their followers into the Hive. It is also worth clarifying for future reference that Aurash was female. 2) Aurash CAN be simulated by the Vex, whereas the darkness within Oryx prevents them from producing a 1:1 simulation of him. 3) Simulations produced within the Infinite Forest CAN leave the Infinite Forest. This is proven both by how we can get loot from the forest, and how Osiris and Sagira are genuinely concerned about the Cabal getting out in one of the Mercury Strikes. 4) The reason the Hive are so obsessed with killing is because of the worms that they have a symbiotic relationship with. Their worms hunger for death, and so they do too. If a Hive does not satisfy its worm's hunger, they will be consumed by it. 5) Aurash is not Hive, thus she does not have a worm. For that reason, she would not be nearly as hostile towards guardians and the light than her present-day incarnation or any of his followers. Furthermore, when she was simulated by the Vex and brought face to face with Oryx, she was horrified by what she saw. 6) The Infinite Forest is capable of simulating things that existed even before it did. This is proven due to the simulation of Mercury's past. 7) The Infinite Forest is capable of simulating places and events that had nothing to do with Mercury. This is proven because Osiris and Sagira have visited a simulation of the Hive Homeworld, Fundament. My theory is as follows: Aurash could return via the Infinite Forest and become a potential ally.

  • An ally how? What insight does Aurash have about the Hive or the Darkness? None. Aurash knows nothing of those two, so she is of no help to us or the plot in general.

  • I don't think so, Oryx is dead and gone.

I... would not be opposed to this, as reliant on deep lore of the Hive and Vex as it is, it is a sound theory and I personally think it deserves some exploration. Will we get it? Not likely. At all. It would be quite the story upheaval for the Hive as well, opening up the possibility of rebellion, maybe? After all, most Hive only follow Oryx, Savathun, and Xivu Arath because they're so much more powerful than them and the generic Hive are required to serve to keep the top dogs alive. Quite the interesting possibility, indeed.

  • Nah that would require a story that is too complex for casuals

  • On a lighter note, if you have aurash, you can get some ointment from your local pharmacy to clear it up. C'mon that was funny!

    • If (big IF) Oryx comes back it will be down to Savathun's cunning, possibly using the Dreadnaught and Tablets of Ruin communing with The Deep, or some trick Oryx pulled with ToM. I don't think it will be Vex-influenced. Personally think this is one of the things that will hold true though, Oryx killed in throne world so stays gone. Savathun and Xivu Arath to step up.

    • Potential ally? Possibly. But if Aurash is self-aware as a simulation, and probably is considering how realistic the simulations are, she could realize what she turned into (Oryx), and that incredible power that came with his worm. She could attempt to get the worm for herself.

      • The bigger question is, will the Guardians ever return?

      • I started to write an answer to this topic, but it evolved to the point that I felt like to make it a separate post. It's here if you wish to give it a look: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/241683918?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

      • Your theory is simulation though. They could simulate anything. Could oryx come back for real? Yes. Any deep space exploration could trigger his return much like his sister’s care back from a true death. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t reboot all the old raids from D1 as simulations. That would have been pretty cool. Old content but cool.

        • Oryx did leave us blueprints to create the ToM ,as he thought that anyone who could best him is the more powerful ,and that he would respect them I've always wanted to have Oryx on our side because out of the three siblings he would seem the more negotiable ,Savathûn is Cunning in trickery and the other one is a warrior ,Where Oryx is the explorer or researcher ,hence the hives urge to "research " us

            • We know the vex can simulate her, but why would they? And even though she isn’t hive, she still didn’t like the traveler at this time so I doubt she would ally with us. Also we did kinda kill her in her future so that might no go over well.

It has not been proven that anything can leave the Infinite Forest, and I would not say that Osiris or Sagira were really concerned about them being able to leave. Sagira says "On the, uh, off chance that one of them escapes" It's a very slim chance that they might be more real than the usual simulations because they are copies of Cabal who entered the Forest rather than just pure simulated Cabal. You can't use loot as evidence as that is a game mechanic. Our enemies don't actually carry human equipment around with them on the off chance they encounter a Guardian who will kill them... As for Aurash, it's likely she would still be as hostile. This is what Xi Ro says about the Helium Drinkers
They are of our species, but they are our enemies. Their knights raid us every day. Helium Drinkers have two legs, two arms, and three eyes, just like us. But they are bright/evil. I want to be a knight and fight them!
They are bright/evil... This sounds like they may have been closer to the Light than those of the Osmium Court. We too appear bright to the Hive and therefore would likely be considered evil. Also don't forget that Taox and the Helium Drinkers sided with the forces of the Traveler to oppose the Hive and the worms. Aurash also believes the Traveler caused the 'Syzygy (god wave)'.
