Remove Eververse; some suggestions...

After reading a "Mentor"'s comment in a thread asking what the community would like to see actually happen with #RemoveEververse I came up with some suggestions, to be at least constructive. 1. Loot locked behind Eververse should be available to obtain via in-game activity unlocks. Take the new Vex themed armor which came with CoO as an example; place it behind the loot table in Heroic Adventures on mercury or have them as possible rewards from Brother Vance. Have exotic sparrows/ships/ghosts etc in the pool of possible rewards for nightfalls and Trials matches (and raids perhaps?). Have Exotic ornaments unlocked via "Gear Milestones"/kept in the Eververse store, similar to what happened with the Lord of Wolves in D1's Rise of Iron, if you beat the raid you got the ornament. Take an ornament like sweet business', maybe killing multiple enemies 1000 times without letting go of the trigger? Something along those lines. Have legendary ghosts/ships/sparrows as rewards from crucible matches and strikes. Have the next Dawning gear to be more event oriented rather than blocked by a paywall, maybe killing a certain number of enemies with snowballs during the event will unlock the helmet? Killing a number of blinded (snowballed) enemies will give another piece, something along those lines. 2. Keep Dust and Everything in the store (can't really refund buyers etc), but allow us to have alternative ways to achieve these items (examples given above). Putting everything behind a loot box that we need to grind for is tedious, if we actually earn this stuff through gameplay it'll be a lot more rewarding and enjoyable for the players. To summarise: Events and expansion content should not revolve around micro-transactions, they should be an afterthought. And with those points I conclude my post, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read how I would improve the Eververse system in D2.

  • #AbandonDestiny "We are listening to your feedback" BS aint gonna cut it this time. It is a MYTH that Eververse doesn't affect you. They have PURPOSEFULLY and SYSTEMATICALLY been nerfing XP and loot drops the whole time with Eververse as it's main focus and hub of it's cause much like a gambling simulator which throttles chance and progress for real money to retain and monetise content. This DLC and progression capped "dawning " event only furthers the already known facts that meaningful content is NO longer the focus with progress caps at every turn and lackluster, watered down endgame, long term effort. #EververseVengence -When you play a game online, check your friends list. Whoever is playing Destiny, do them a favor and invite them to YOUR game instead. The dwindling numbers don''t lie. Check here. https://destinytrialsreport.com/ PLUS> Here's the difference you're making fighting lootboxes (aka "bright engrams"). Don't let them explloit young players and make this predatory practice the 'norm'.

  • I know this won't be popular, but to me, my main issue with Eververse is the RNG. No clear path to getting the loot that you want. Elder Scrolls Online, another game I play a fair bit, also has seasonal loot crates. Unlike Destiny however, other than the occasional promotion to get a couple free crates, ESO doesn't allow you to get any of these crates just for playing the game. You need to buy them with real money, the rewards can all be duplicates of items you've already received and the currency these duplicates break down into is so minimal you would need to spend close to $100 (NZ) just to get enough to buy ONE Apex reward. Destiny currently does this system better by allowing the loot boxes to be rewarded just for playing the game and doing any activity you like. Dodgy XP throttling aside. Personally I don't mind loot boxes too much, provided there are clear ways to get the rewards without playing against the RNG. Destiny does this with Bright Dust, and that Bright Dust can be rewarded IN GAME via Bright Engrams awarded by leveling up your character. Put it this way, I'm currently sitting on $5.5k Bright Dust, having already purchased the Dawning Hunter Chest & Legs and the Warlock Chest. I've also received the Hunter Cloak via one of the engrams rewarded in week 1. This is all without purchasing any silver, and just playing the game. Granted, I break down all legendary sparrows, ships and ghosts (unless good destination/activity perks) and break down most Eververse shaders. I know it sounds like I'm defending Eververse here. I'm not! I'm just saying that there are worse ways to do it and there are ways to get what you want. But you can't have it all. And this shitty Vault/Inventory system we've currently got won't allow us to collect everything anyway. You know what I'm more pissed off about, is with CoO, we got barely anything new. We only got a few new vendor/destination and 1 new vendor with 1 new gear set and the prophecy weapons. In The Dark Below, ALL vendor weapons reset and each of those had a different role each time you got them. The Dark Below was considered a massive fail, but at least it gave us plenty of new weapons to grind for. Anyway, back to Eververse. It needs to be significant overhaul, or just be removed altogether. I do get that Bungie are a business and needs to make money, but events such as the Dawning which was quite clearly designed around customers having to pay based on the RNG of the lootboxes just to get what they want, the XP throttling or the doubling of XP required to level-up, or even this pathetic mess with the shaders from gifts not dismantling in Bright Dust... these kind of things are put in place by greed and are not customer-focused. The fact that loot boxes exist in game in the first place is shit! Do I care that Eververse exists - not really. But below are some quick short-term suggestions on how I personally feel would be some positive changes without having to wait for a complete overhaul. - Purchasable loot boxes need to go. Keep them in game ONLY for level-up rewards in the form of Bright/Illuminated engrams for that random chance at an Eververse item. But maybe remove the well-rested buff to ensure these aren't too farmable. - Keep Eververse with weekly rotating stock, puchasable with either Silver or Bright Dust. - Allow Bright Dust to be awarded for completing in game activities, such as 100 Bright Dust when completing each milestone each week with each character. I think these small changes would immediately remove the predatory practice that Bungie currently has in place, allow players that play a fair amount to get everything they want without having to spend any real money, and finally allow casual players that don't get on as often to purchase specific items for real money IF they want to. And give us more -blam!-ing vault/inventory space!

I think your suggestions are a bit incomplete if EV is going to be kept around. Personally I think it should be gone since it detracts resources from game development but if it is going to be kept around then here some conditions it should meet. 1. Remove RNG from the EV store. It is okay to earn Engrams during game play that can be redeemed through Tess (though ALL engrams SHOULD be redeemed by Cryptarchs to keep true to the lore) but EVERYTHING in EV purchased with Bright Dust should have a straight up value and can be purchased DIRECTLY at a fixed price. 2. Whatever in game currency that is used to directly convert physical currency to the in the game currency must have a constant conversion ratios ($$ to Silver; Silver to Bright Dust). Since this game is marketed to 10 year olds then it needs to be easy enough for an average 10 year old to understand the physical currency cost of any item the can be purchased in EV. This will allow all buyers to actually evaluate the true cost/value of items being purchased. 3. Everything purchased in EV must be 100% ornamental and not effect game play in any way, shape, or form. This means that ALL Armor, Ghosts, Weapon covers and Sparrows sold in EV must be at 10 or less light level and have NO attributes. All attributes/perks are brought over by the item that is infused into the purchased item. (The following is added to this post:) This also means that no buff’s can be sold in the EV Store, especially XP buffs since they affect game play by affecting the leveling. Buff’s sold using shards or other in game currency (not affected by “silver”) by other NPC’s is okay as long as it is equal for all players.
Off Topic: While I understand that “Three of Coins” increases the rate of Exotics dropping by 50% this really means nothing without knowing the odds of an exotic dropping. If the odds of an exotic engram dropping is 1% then increasing the drop rate to 1.5% through the use of ToC is not significant, especially for the cost. It is this type of deceptive advertising that really infuriates many players as they feel lied to and disrespected.
I have more ideas and suggestions but not enough time to add them now.
