If it was just Oryx and Crota, they would be annihilated by the Vex. If you brang the other Hive gods such as Savathûn, Xivu Arath, Nokris? and the Worm gods to fight, it would be much more challenging for the Vex. Oryx's army was nearly destroyed by a single Vex mind. And the war lasted centuries.
