Lets have a tower meeting about that grimoire debate

So. As many of us in the forums have taken a notice too, the grimoire us absent. Some of us love it a lot hate it so lets come together for a tower meeting. Let's consult the consensus. MY OPINION I'm a huge fan of how the story feels as if you actually get real personality from the characters. The whole game world feels more in depth and immersive for it, and the characters more relatable, and emotionally present. In lesser terms they make us give a -blam!- about them. However I do have a complaint. And it's my main feeling on the subject because I like What they added but not at that price of no grimoire (I'll discuss at the end why it does, lore wise, male sense though*) .... i would only disagree with the act of abolishing the grimoire. It was my FAVORITE part by the end of destiny. Like everyone else I was annoyed I had to go online to get the story of the game I was playing to see these cards i was constantly unlocking. That view was naive. I learned it took extensive knowledge of historical cultures and their myths legends beliefs and customs and really really very truly represented an ACTUAL GRIMOIRE comprised of fragments of what people knew and brought with them in exodus to the last city. I don't know if you've ever gone and tried to read a real life GRIMOIRE but they are DENSE as well as very cryptic to avoid persecution. And quite frankly no player should be forced into trying to understand that especially with Destiny having a relatively large younger player base. So, to have the grimoire in the game was on no level necessary. Can you imagine sitting infront of your tv stuck while trying to read That? I read it EVERYWHERE It also allowed me to read it on my down time. It was very much the deepest fascination of the Destiny universe and WHY I even continued buying dlc as they came out (<seriously tho) *(that reason why it makes sense, lore-wise) dude the cabal were BRUTAL when they attacked our tower was trashed and were in a new one. While some more scholarly guardians may have ran for their grimoire they prolly dead as a doornail we as a society in-game we reasonably have lost so much of our collected knowledge we no longer HAVE one.
Ps bungie. You're not clever using grimoire cards as dialogue in the game as dialog. Thats....lazy. specifically the golden gun traveler shard mission. Every word we a copy of grimoire card. I appreciate the good old college effort to put it in-game but fųķing really?
• I don't think it's so much that people didn't like the grimoire--from what I understand, the consensus is that people didn't like having to read the grimoire online. It disrupted the flow of the game. It was preferred to have grimoire in the actual game, but seeing as we have a boatload of lore in the game now (SQUEE ^_^), it is definitely a step forward. BUT, Bungie now needs to implement an archive option for all the lore we've scanned/heard about/collected. For people like me who tend to not remember details about some lore, having that option would be super fantastic. I am liking the lore in some of the weapons and armor we have, though. I think taking away the grimoire completely is silly. The option should have still been there, but the point of it all is, have it in the game, too.

    • One thing I honestly never understood was when people made the arguement that the worst part about the grimoire was ergh'herm "i have to leave the game, log on to bungie.net and flick through cards just to read back story" i sometimes i felt like i was the only person in the world that didnt have to get up off the couch go to the computer, wait for my computer to startup, connect my dial up, wait for bungie.net to load for 20mins, then go to all the effort to find a card! I never saw the big deal with literally unlocking my phone and reading grimoire cards, its convenient, i could do it anywhere, i dont think it broke immersion, sure having it in the game also would have been great and welcomed, but in hindsight can anyone honestly say it was a bad system? I miss it :( now if u miss a bit of lore from a scannable or mission or adventure etc. You have to "get off your couch, go to the computer... etc." You get my point! People complained way to hard! I wish there was a hybrid and a codex but well just have to deal with this now!

    • We need a lore tab in game and on the app for all the scannables and exotics

      • I don't think any significant amount of people actually didn't like the fact that the grimoire existed. I just think Bungie made an overwhelmingly unnecessary decision.

      • We NEED a codex. The game feels a little oversimplified without one Description of enemy races and types Background on the crucible maps Background on the new tower. New players to the franchise are missing out on a lot of the hidden details.

        • My opinion is simple. If it's not in the game, it's not story or lore. Anyone who starts a statement with "in the Grimoire" or something similar automatically loses their point.

          • Bungie's incompetence is so impressive to me. "Hey Steve, everyone hates how none of the lore is in game and they have to go on our website to know what the hell is going on." "Got it, removing all lore and dead ghost collecting"

          • It’s a text file.... bungie needs to put it in the game. The fact they haven’t is pure laziness.

          • How about bungie makes a library in the tower with an interactive terminal that lets us read the grimoir no more going online and reading random shit of the site. And heck whilst they're at it, maybe they can put some good nods to Destiny 1 crucible meta's in there too.

          • I think that it needs to be in game, I understand that you don't want to have to sit in front of your tv but there are able who don't mind, like myself. I'd love to have the Grimoire in game, that way I don't have to read it on the app or go out of my way if I wanted to read. Honestly if someone wanted to read the lore, our guardian just standing there shouldn't make a difference. With all do respect, I think you're a bit stuck in your way with reading it on the app, for as for me, if it was in game, I would never stop reading. That's how I am with the exotic tap, although it isn't enough to read.

            • I read here somewhere (don't remember the post, so I can't link, sorry) about having something like "Grimoire missions" for the Cryptarchey. I don't remember all of it (apologies again) but I thought that would be really cool. I remember the post called the system the Archives (hopefully someone can find the post and link to it or something, and succeed where I failed).

              • People really didn't hate Grimoire. They hated that it wasn't in-game. You had to get the extra meaty details of the game away from the game.
