LDR advice?
I'm in a LDR and love this girl so much. But it pains me that I won't be able to meet her until next Summer. :( She's such a sweetheart. <3

Generally, they dont work mate. Unless you have the means yo go see her. With that being said, she probably is getting pounded by that guy from the Bahamas as we speak. Kudos to those who know that second reference.

LDR's generally don't work out for obvious reasons. I was in one for two years and called it quits. The distance really puts a burden on you mentally wise.

Pro tip: Don't. She'll find another guy wherever she is then cheat for 6 months before you figure it's time to break it off. I guess in my case it was good because it broke my infatuation with a chick 3 states away and allowed me to finally see that there were other women out there for me. I guess, I hope for the best for you. I hope she turns out to be worth the time.

LDRs are really difficult, because no matter how much you want to express your feelings, it is always limited by the distance between you. I would say that the biggest thing to keep in mind, is that as things get frustrating, difficult, or argumentative between you, is that a large part of it is caused merely by the circumstances you are in by that distance. Try to keep in mind that frustration due to your circumstances is not frustration at or from each of you, even if sometimes it can come across that way. Also try to appreciate the fact that the two of you have gotten to know each other in a rare and unique way that not many people have. Without physical contact, your communication is based on talking to each other, and really getting to know each other without the ability to use distractions that cause false intimacy. It may feel bad not being able to take each other out on dates, do fun activities and all that stuff, but the fact that you have grown close and are on a relationship without all of those things, means, in my opinion, that emotionally and mentally, you are able to communicate and know each other on a much deeper level than an in-person relationship. And always remember that no matter how hard it gets missing someone, that knowing them and having them in your life with the ability to miss them so badly is better than not knowing them at all. The fact that you met over a long distance is a good thing, because you met. So when you're missing each other a lot, try to keep that on. mind and focus on how great it is that you have each other in your own unique way.

Get Skype and a decent webcam, set up times to talk at least somewhat frequently, find some fun ways of spending time together virtually (maybe game together, watch movies together on Skype, stuff like that). Write letters and send small gifts if you can afford it and she's the type who likes receiving things that say "I love you" (these don't have to be expensive... Even a refrigerator magnet that literally says "I love you" can mean a lot in the absence of a physical presence to feel close to). Try to save up money for a plane ticket to visit once or twice... Above all, make sure you can handle not having a physical presence. If you think you're going to cheat because you can't handle her not being there, don't drag yourselves through it. Source: was/kind of am in a long distance relationship for the better part of a decade. To be honest, being in a LDR is tough and I wouldn't recommend it (nor would my girlfriend). Still, it [i]is[/i] possible if you both put in a [i]lot[/i] of work.
