Figured it out guys, you need to install the windows update "KB2670838". Download link is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805
This fixed the Chive error code for me and now i'm in game.

While trying to install the update, it has been stuck on "Searching for updates on this computer" for about an hour or so. Is there a fix to this?

I haven't heard of anyone on Windows 10 getting a Chive error. Do you have Chive error on windows 10?

Please ensure Windows 10 is up to date, and all graphics drivers are up to date. You may need to use the Scan and Repair feature on your PC to ensure Destiny 2 was properly installed through the Blizzard app.
