That was the plot of Destiny 1 i feel, but unintentionally as their own studio was fighting over game direction, even close to launch.

Mmm tell you the truth I've given up hope on the series... I preordered the sequel because I had surgery which went wrong and I was in terrible pain, the medication helped me feel better but also utterly shutdown my inhibitions..... I could probably argue with sony to give me my money back but screw it. The game is fun to play from a strictly gameplay standpoint which is why I'll probably enjoy playing the sequel, but Bungie appears to only regard the property as as a tool to move dlcs and micro-transactions. They were supposed to have this deep elaborate story and then they went "-blam!- it lets COD it" and I doubt they're going to recover from that.
