Which race and gender are you going to pick for your characters?
I'd prefer:
Warlock - Male Human
Titan - Male Awoken
Hunter - Male Exo
(race choices have nothing to do with the Vanguard)
But! First I'll check out the way they dance, salute, sit, and scream when they take damage and die. No doubt all 3 of mine will be males, but if the Exo again has the most hilarious death scream, I'm probably gonna pick Exo for my 'lock main. And again hide his stupid robot face for all eternity under a helmet in social spaces. But that's no big deal to me.

From what i've seen the default emotes are all based on race and not specific gender emotes (such as sitting down).
