Having played the entirety of the first day with my friends, I can undoubtedly say I like how Destiny 2 plays. The TTK can feel obscenely long or ludicriously fast, but basic communication with teammates can solve that. The maps are cool. Midtown is fantastic for Countdown! On the other hand, Endless Vale feels really, REALLY simplistic. Some may like that, I personally hate it. The Strike is really fun, and reminds me of Destiny 1's best strikes, even if it's slower in almost every aspect. This is my experience with a Fireteam of my closest Destiny friends.
Alone on the other hand...
Trying to play alone is a damn nightmare. My PvP matches are swarming with clans and 4 stacks. Due to communication being better for a Full Fireteam, I find myself team shot to death almost 100% of the time. There are very few 1v1 situations, as when someone starts taking damage, they turn tail or inform their teammates someone is after them. It also doesn't help that SBMM seems to be cranked up to 11 in Quickplay (keyword: seems).
The Strike...people I've matched with are just plain stupid or have never played an FPS in their life.
Standing under the Boss's foot will kill you, but people I match with don't understand that
Since this is indicative of the full experience, idk how much I'll concurrently play.
Edit: Changed wording to emphasize that these are my experiences with the D2 Beta. Your experiences are different than mine. Take that into account when you comment instead of just spewing hate my way ☺.

In confused. I thought TTK meant The Taken King, what does it mean now?

Edited by B00ZE CLUEZ: 7/21/2017 11:34:32 PMJust played my first match, after our first loss a team member quit, it went 5 -blam!-in rounds 3v4. Yeah thats fair.... Edit: just joined a control match, match ended when i got in, 45 to 15....

I solo and the only problem I run into is when I try to D1 rush by myself thinking one mag and grenade will wipe the enemy team. D2 focuses on team play for sure to get the advantage, but 1v1 is still a thing along with 1v2 scenarios. Playing solo is fine, but don't get mad that you can't slaughter the enemy team when it's a 1v4 scenario. Obviously this is all my opinion so feel free to counter.

I'm now always checking the roster and immediately backing out if the opponents have a fireteam. Saves me a boring mercy. And maybe if more ppl follow this rule, Bungie has to fix their matchmaking.

Eye up Guardian, have you been a one wolf, has your clan fallen apart during the recent content drought, are you bored and looking for something to keep you engaged in Destiny while you await D2 and its eventual release in September, or have you found that the beta is telling you that playing in a clan will bring you more success? If some of this sounds familiar, I suggest you come take alook at XxTheWolfpackxX for either PS4 or XB1 and yes, we even have a PC clan ready to go for when that is available. PS4 - https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/1151566 XB1 - https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/1121944 PC - https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/1904923 The clan was started in August of 2015, just in time for Taken King after several of the original members had gotten together and decided that playing solo was just not the way to go anymore. We are a community of like-minded gamers that holds its teamwork and values seriously, with one intention and goal in mind; To unite guardians who seek a clan to call home with clanmates who have your back with no requirements. The Wolfpack does not have very demanding requirements. We expect our members to be active, social, helpful, mature, and respectful. In return, you can expect the same from everyone else here. This will ensure the most amazing experience and will draw you in for hours of entertainment, whether it's PvP, PvE, or both. The clan is a no requirements clan, meaning, no posting weapons, class, light, mic or any other must haves for joining activities, we want to include everyone. By the same token, we expect that guardians will not attempt to join an activity if there light is significantly lower than the recommendations bungie has for each activity. We do ask that all who request to join the membership link the b.net account to either the ps4 or xb1 account used for gaming to avoid ghost accounts etc. We are a very active clan and run tournaments fairly often on pvp and pve content to spice things up for those who just want something to do in the game, play with great people and have fun. We run raids, strikes, missions as well as all pvp content. Membership is open to any mature individual who wants to play. Tags are earned by being helpful in game and on the clan wall as well as playing often. Nominations are taken monthly and near the end of every month, given out to those who have earned it. Destiny 1 was sold as a primarily co op experience, why would you expect anything different from the sequel?
-
I have NO idea why they don't have a SOLO OPTION... Seems like it would make sense if you wanted to explore or practice or are just a SOLOIST. Again Bungie keeps forgetting that whole........let us play the way we want to. It's going to keep everything samey...
-
Play randoms and invite teammates that have good chemistry with your gameplay. Repeat until you have a team?
-
I'll stop standing under the strike bosses' foot when you let me kill him with my fist

Agreed about pvp. If you're not in a fireteam and party chat then there's a high chance you'll get stomped. It doesn't help when you come up against a team of 4 and there's only you and one other person. Me and a friend played pvp last night and we came against a clan of 4 and we had one other guy in with us the whole match. Not once did it give us another person to even the sides up. I feel 6v6 is better. I hope they change this.

I've been at the top of the leaderboard almost every game I've played without a Fireteam. Yes it is easier to organize with power ammo and which point you're going to engage with a Fireteam, bit you don't need one. Just stick with and assist your team, move with them or get them to follow your lead and engage a certain point. If you get their back, they will get yours. The complaint that "it is impossible to play without a Fireteam" is just an excuse people use when they playing poorly. I've played Crucible both with and without a Fireteam in the BETA and have seen little to no difference in how I play. The Crucible is evolving. Working with your fellows Guardians to defeat your enemy is more important than it has ever been. The TTK relies not only on gun skill and tactics, but also on how well you maneuver the map with your team. I understand if you prefer to be the "badass lone wolf" who can take on the entire world by his or herself. Sadly, this game is not fit for that play style anymore. Either lead your fellow Guardians into combat or get their backs.

don't play countdown then. i've matched like two full fireteams in control
-
Solo for 20 of my 23 games. 17 of the 20 solo games i was OJ with MJs glitterglove. I still lonewolf it but occasionally will run with the blueberry pack. Bottom line, still wrecking shop. Just cause people are on a fireteam doesnt instantly make them good or unbeatable. DONT LEAVE IF YOURE GETTING SLAUGHTERED. Stats arent tracked yet. Use the asskickin to learn the map better. Different angles. Sorry but i think good players who played solo arent going to have any trouble adapting. And if you werent good solo in d1 well....i imagine its horrible for you
-
I do just fine playing solo in D2 competitive
-
I prefer to play PVP alone. If the only way to be successful in D2 is to pair up with friends than I will not be playing. Every time I play with others, more of my time is wasted standing around doing nothing. Then there needs to be a consensus about which activity to do. Pass. The older I get the less I like people.
-
I never had a problem playing alone. I've been playing very reserved and haven't been playing countdown because I detest search and destroy but it's worked well for me. I find I've had to focus a lot more on my position compared to my team to find angles on the other team. It's a hell of a lot more tactical in a different way. I must say. I love it.
-
Don't play competitive solo. It's too tough.
-
Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure D2 beta has reset mmr....so sbmm cant be happening.

Edited by N8sNotSoGr8: 7/20/2017 2:45:53 PMFor a solo player just looking for a casual game, the crucible really isn't enjoyable. Engagements are almost always teamshooting now and you can't just barge in and play Cq to scare people out of camping holes. In fact, cq is effectively suicide anymore with how slow everything is. Everything has to be coordinated. It's all about playing back and team-shooting now. For a cq player like myself, It makes crucible almost unplayable. And honestly, there's not much strategy to it either. All you have to do is wait out the initial cap at b, attack on every side and wipe the capping team, cap the point, and then camp. And once a team is nice and burrowed in? Gl taking back the advantage, which adds up incredibly fast. If this was all competitive, it would be fine. Maybe if the maps were bigger and control points more spaced out camping wouldn't be such a problem. But this is my main issue in casual. Crucible really does seem like it will be less about the skill of the individual player, and more of the coordination of the team. Again, if this was about competitive modes, it wouldn't be an issue. But casual is an absolute sweat fest, and solo players who don't want to try-hard carry every game are gunna find this hard to enjoy. Granted, guided games will help get you a group, but what if you just want to run lone-wolf? Bungie has always had a playlist for those players, and now it just seems like they're punishing them. I know a lot of you on here will respond with git gud , but for the 95% of the gaming population who doesn't strive to make a living off of MLG highlight reels ;) crucible is going to feel very alienating.
-
My only issue with the beta is pretty much the same with games being really tough if you solo queue, hopefully in the full game there will be a dedicated playlist for solo players to avoid getting stomped and having no fun in the process.
-
I quit playing after 45min. Nothing intrigued me enough to keep me playing. I'm sure the patrols will when the main game drops.
-
The whole stacked teams will die down more during full game, most people got together with friends and clan mates to play and have fun, once the full game releases you'll see more lone wolf's. Though I did decent with randoms last night for a couple games. Best to play near a point but not right on it, cap it then move towards the middle but semi close to A or C, this gives you good map control, good sight lines, and makes getting to a zone fast easier.
-
I had the same experience as the op. Matched only full teams while solo and strike randoms are the worst players I've ever seen - across my 3 years of D1. Quickplay was running rampant with teams and while I was able to beat a few despite teammates going afk mid match 3 or 4 games most of the time it was just getting triple teamed on B while teammates roamed the outskirts of the map or crouched in a corner
-
I actually just posted the same thing as you , lol
-
Solo pvp'er here in destiny 2 beta my kd averages a 4.0 winning 90 percent of my matches I'm loving all the pvp changes now we have alot more gun play. While my kd averages around a 1.0 to 1.3 in destiny 1. If u adapt and have aiming skill it's a heck of alot better then 1. I was very surprised because I loved year 1 and 2 pvp.
-
It it is a lot better with a team. Especially since spawn flips will destroy all you love
