Shotguns and Sniper Rifles in Destiny 2

I want to start off by saying I am not a fan of Snipers and Shotguns being placed in the same category as Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers. However, I think both Linear Fusion Rifles and standard Fusion Rifles seem to fit really well. The main issue I have is that to me, as someone who primarily plays PvE, Bungie have made this change based on complaints from the first game's Crucible community. I understand those complaints but I feel like the PvE experience is hurt by this change. Id love to able to run around with a couple of Shotguns in Patrols and Strikes ( I avoid Snipers cause Im not great with them ) Hearing a satisfying, electrical "kthunk" from an Omolon shotgun quickly followed by a barrage of pellets and green smoke from a fancy new Veist shottie. Sadly I wont be able to do this to the extent I'd as Power Ammo packs are as rare as Heavy Ammo packs. Various changes (nerfs) would keep shotguns from outclassing almost any weapon at close range in PvP. The most obvious would be both damage and range being scaled back, making hard hitting shotties take at least 3 perfect shots and the weaker, fast firing variants would need 5 or 6. Reducing ammo capacity to a full clip and a few reserve shots ( Similar to a Sidearms ammo economy in D1 ) Is another way of keeping Shotguns from giving Crucible a D1 sized headache. Ive really wanted to share my thoughts on this for awhile now and hopefully, enough fellow Guardians feel the same way to make @Bungie take notice and perhaps change this before the release date.
