My preference is not a refund. My preference is to gain access to my lost account or data. The loss of this account and its associated clans, emblems, and data was not due to a violation of Bungie's terms. Per the terms, the content is only unconditionally forfeited if my bungie account has been terminated or suspended, or if the content program has been discontinued. The account was neither forfeited or suspended and the emblem and clan programs have not been discontinued. The termination and restricted access to my account was not an active decision made by Bungie. The present restricted access to my account, clans, emblems, and data was the product of an oversight by Bungie. Bungie failed to include proper failsafes such as restrictions, warnings or confirmations that my actions would remove access to the last authentication method on my account. Thus, the required resolution is to re-enable my access to the account in question; or to move my clans, emblems, and data to the new account. If you are unable to remedy this in any of the manners previously described, then your next step is to provide me with direct contact information for team(s) or individual(s) who can.

You are quoting terms where Bungie's actions cause you to not have access to content (such as you logged in and your account was locked due to action on Bungie's side and you were not actually suspended or terminated. This could be due to a Database issue, rogue employee, a system error on Bungie's side. ). I am sorry to say but this was not Bungie's actions, but yours. Bungie didn't force you to link your account to blizzard the way you did (I will agree the system is not laid out the best way, BUT there is a correct way to link it) and there is even a warning message that pops saying by continuing your old profile will be closed. Your complaint is like everyone else complaining when they accidentally deleted a character or an exotic. Bungie is not required to give those items back because of an "accident" or a "mistake" or an assumption by the user even if you feel like you earned them and it was the system's fault for you not understanding what you were doing. With that said I do hope they have a way to restore orphaned accounts for people who lost them. However blaming Bungie and quoting their terms as if you are entitled to your content because of your own actions is not the way to approach things.

That's exactly the point though, that because they didn't terminate or end the service they provide they are to continue to give access to my data. That includes items I purchased for direct use on my profile, not just in-game things that I've "earned."

  • The other bit is that while there is a warning it is worded as if the account data will be merged when linked. There also is no mention of losing access to paid content because of the linking.

  • Same here, I've done the same thing through no fault of my own. This needs to be rectified post haste.

  • It won't. If you have orphaned your account then there is nothing that can be done. Before all this hype of destiny 2 people have done the same thing and months later bungie hasnt changed it.

  • That does not mean it should continue this way. I have enough of an understanding of databases and a account linking that if they get the right person to work on it, it'll be a quick fix. Again, it's their policies we're up against. Not some technical limitation.
