Skyrim

So, I was thinking of buying skyrim the special edition.... Should I? If so, do you have any tips for me starting out? Edit: just got the game and I have no idea what I'm doing ;)

          • Neither did I, but the games so big you've got plenty of time to learn it. Never played it on 360, but got it as soon as it was released on XBone and played it solid till I bought my PS4.

            • It's pretty easy if you follow the arrow on the top of your screen. Give it some time and it will become easy and addicting.

            • Well good luck then!! Just remember while you are messing around doing random shit, the Draugr are training. My advice. Make your character a quiet warrior with no social skills that can only kill things and craft weapons and armor.

            • Everyone always jizzes over this game, but ill just say this: if you need a game to have fun and interesting combat to have fun with it, pass. Skyrims combat sucks.

              • The devs fixed the issue that wouldn't let you log into the mod screen on the console. I was having this problem yesterday and its all good now.

              • Mods just mods everywhere. Also I duel wield swords with the up grades it does incredible damage the only draw back is you don't have any block so you will take a lot of damage too. Play aggressive and put everything into stamina and health power attacks are your best friend. Speed is important but I would still recommend heavy armor it will give you more defense that will keep you alive eventually you'll be able to unlock a perk that makes it so you don't slow down while wearing it. Leveling up is easy if you grind smithing you will also be able to upgrade your items to higher attack/defence values when you level up smithing. Whiterun is the most important city in the game it's a central location and has everything you need to buy/sell. A lot of the main quest places are close by to it as well. Keep a bow for fighting dragons but other then that your much better off with a melee weapon. Make it a point to stock up on potions. Healing spells will come I handy too. And destruct magic is a good alternative to a bow and arrow. Keep your main items in your favorites section so you can switch on the fly. And finally discover all you can that way if you need to go to a quest location you will have already have found it or something near by and can fast travel easily.

                • Depends. If you've never played it then yes, get it. If you've already played it then I say no. It's the same game, it may look slightly better, but it's still the same game it was 6 years ago.

If you care about trophies then don't use any mods until you're done getting the trophies you want. If you don't care about trophies get the god mode ring lol. Thats really the only mod you'll "need" but if you like to be a mage then get the phendrix mods, its amazing how many spells are in that one. I use some graphics mods and the bridges of skyrim mod and a few others. There really aren't that many tips to give you really. Make your way to riverwood and your story can go wherever you want it to from there. Grab that faendal guy as a follower, he'll be useful to carry stuff for you until you starting unlocking more of them, like a chick named lydia in whiterun. Also when you come across a pickaxe either steal it or buy it cause thats how you'll be able to farm ingots and stuff like that when you come across them. Same with a woodcutters axe. You can shop wood for making arrows if you want to use a bow. I steal as many arrows as I can ( you'll find most soldiers only have steel arrows ) and save often, especially before pickpocketing. Ask away though if you got questions about anything.
