Hey everyone!
Today is the day, just like every year before, that a lot of "Little Lights" will be joining our ranks, both on B.net and out on the Frontier. Do what you can to welcome them. Teach them the right ways to fire a Golden Gun or unleash a Nova Bomb. There will be a bunch of them out there, so give them a hand!
It wasn't all that long ago that you or I were new to Destiny. If you started in the Alpha/Beta, in Year One, Year Two, or Year Three, it doesn't make a difference. You're a Guardian. You're one of us. Help those who are just discovering their Light so that they, too, can fight against the Darkness.
Happy Dawning!
Edit: Destiny veterans: What is one thing you'd recommend to every new player?

No one with a brain is buying this shit game for Christmas, especially now when it's nearly over/dying.

Edited by Twilight Imperial Paragon: 12/26/2016 5:59:32 PM-Hold Triangle/"Y" to bring out your heavy weapon... -You can't see your own orbs from performing your super ... Bless your little heart that you're trying to be a good teammate and not pick up that random heavy ammo that dropped from an enemy so your Fireteam member can pick it up.. only you can see it...ha.. Enemy shields are weak to the same element of your weapons, ie: Solar shields depletes faster from Solar based weapons.... don't be like me and think it's a pokémon style rock/paper/scissors mechanic..funny moment there.. This advice is based off my own genuine ignorance of this game starting out 😂

Edited by Prowling-Around-0_0: 12/27/2016 4:03:40 AMI met a Kinderguardian/Iron Pup in the tower. He chose a hunter and befriended me once we danced and waved. I asked him what he wanted to do PVE or PVP. He said PVP because he wants to know the crucible experience and I simulated how try hard one match can be. I used Last Word and Longbow with hidden hand in one of the matches. After the 1st match, I apologized and said that the crucible is no place for mercy. He said its okay and at least I got the feeling of it. I haven't used matador yet but it wouldn't be fun killing him with that shotgun though I used party crasher. All those matches he couldn't kill me.

Edited by Shirokuro Okami: 12/27/2016 10:42:37 AMDon't aim straight down when using nova bomb or use it in an enclosed space... Don't just rush through everything either... take your time with it, otherwise you might just blast through and then complain there isn't anything new to do... and try to make sure you do the first raids as well - there's bound to be people that'll happily go with you.

I'd recommend new players, or even other veterans, to space everything out. Enjoy one activity at a time.

My advice? Use this one sniper, the matador I think it's called. It's a weird sniper, no scope, buts it's a guaranteed one shot body shot across the map.

Too bad that Titan Armor never made it into the game... :(

As a veteran player since beta let me give you one piece of advice "little lights", STAY FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR AWAY FROM FORUMS, RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK

I'm not a vet, but for all the new Guardians in the boat I was in a few months ago: a) Look for a good clan to join ASAP. It'll make your levelling life, and general experience so much better. b) Read up on Strikes and Raids BEFORE you run them. The lore and information is out there and easy to access, it'll make your life easier to have an idea of what to expect and what mechanics you'll encounter like puzzles and such. Watch other streamers play through Raids and Strikes to learn how to play them at your best. c) When you're decrypting engrams, make sure you FIRST equip all your best gear before you have the Archon decrypt your new engrams. This will increase the chance of your engrams consistently decrypting at the higher levels you need to raise your light when you're starting out. I was told this was nonsense, but it's worked for me since the few months that I discovered the trick. d) If you intend on levelling two or three characters, save gear drops that you get on other characters for a different class! Save high levelled weapons that you won't use on one character to infuse on another! Use that vault space! Download Destiny Item Manager to more effectively manage your characters gear and loadouts! e) Don't be afraid to hang out in Patrol or PvP and just shoot things to get a feel for your character and find your playstyle. You need to hone that before you hop into anything serious like Raids, Iron Banner, Trials or Strike playlist grind sessions. f) find some Streamers who play Destiny and follow them/get involved with the community around them. This links back up with point a). When you find the right set of people, you'll be in a great spot to play this game for quite awhile, whether casually or as a newborn sweaty. Good luck. Feel free to message me if I'm online playing Destiny and you need help with a mission or some such. Just let me know you're from the Bungie forums and what you're looking to do.

From a year 1 player to all new Guardians out there, don't play through everything so fast. Take your time, explore the game. Don't play through to fast. You will get burnt out. Make sure you do your daily bounties from the bounty tracker when trying to rank up a character and a subclass. If you enjoy it, pvp is a fun way to rank up a character. Try to make friends. This game is alot more fun when you a friends to play with. Once you start looking into raids, if you haven't made any or enough freinds, theres a section in forums called #recruitment to find other players to complete activities. If you have any issues with gameplay, many people from the community will be able to assist you in the #Help forums.

Iron Shavin's?

My advice would be to use fusion rifles
they're so OP bungie should really nerf them
• In strikes, If your fireteam is done and they died in the open with enemies, just wait the 30 seconds out. I would rather be slightly bored for half a minute than restarting the check point. • Level up a defender Titan as soon as you can because everyone appreciates them on a team. • Don't feel bad if you can't finish a particular activity. Just keep learning. • There is a million things to learn about this game, so never be afraid to ask questions. If any kinderguardian sees this, you can hit me up if you need a guide.
-
A) get the companion app, it saves soooo much time. B) get 2 friends to play with, friends will keep you playing for a long long time. If I had gotten all he content this game now has back in year 1 I may have never left but, with all the content this game has, new guardians are getting a great deal

I see kinderguardians 5/6 towers I go into, I usually wave and one actually befriended me, but no ps plus and he only has 3 friends so he just got the console.
-
New people? Uhmmm don't get worried about stats. Just play to have fun. I'm guilty of this myself.
-
New people! Yay! I can't wait to insult them for not playing how I play and then pull up their KD to prove a point! /It's just a prank, bro/
-
If you still play this game I don't trust your judgement

Nice shoes
