Hey everyone!
Today is the day, just like every year before, that a lot of "Little Lights" will be joining our ranks, both on B.net and out on the Frontier. Do what you can to welcome them. Teach them the right ways to fire a Golden Gun or unleash a Nova Bomb. There will be a bunch of them out there, so give them a hand!
It wasn't all that long ago that you or I were new to Destiny. If you started in the Alpha/Beta, in Year One, Year Two, or Year Three, it doesn't make a difference. You're a Guardian. You're one of us. Help those who are just discovering their Light so that they, too, can fight against the Darkness.
Happy Dawning!
Edit: Destiny veterans: What is one thing you'd recommend to every new player?

Tips don't do what i did when I switched from ps3 to xbone. Complete the story THEN use the spark of light. Not the other way because the story is fun

So you're saying the people that grinded in y1 shouldn't have to help people that get a booster to a certain level when they buy certain dlc? We shouldn't have to help them when its become easier to level up every year? Y1 was such a struggle to play end game content which is why I and many others liked this game...when it was challenging

Let's hope they like gambling.
For the sake of the game and all.
To all Iron Nuggets on PS4; Add me anytime for some jolly cooperation!
-
I feel sorry for them.
-
Don't bother.
-
If your new to the game, I would like to be the first to apologize for the disappointment you are about to go thru.
-
I got a message for em. Dont send blind invitations. Send a msg first that tells exactly what you are doing. I'd help a lot more people if they did just that.
-
One thing I would recommend? Play all the raids. If you claim Crota's End or King's Fall as your favorite raid, that makes you a Heretic, and we don't like Heretics.

Play every class, all the way through. Confuses the hell out of me when I see people who only play one class or ask if they should try other classes. Of course you should, you're missing significant portions of the game by not, like a third or two thirds of the experience. Level them up altogether, playing one for a bit, then another so you don't get bored. The infusion system makes it so much easier now.

Great post. My advice to the newcomers: try it all. Destiny is a game of personal choice, so try every weapon, every piece of armor. Experiment with perks to find the right fit for you. Above all else, have fun!

Quit playing before it's too late.

don't believe chit that dribbles out of deej #1 don't believe chit that dribbles out of cozmo #2 don't believe chit that bunghole dribbles out #3 see you're winning already (;

If any of you still need to do Refer a Friend, this could be a great opportunity to do so! To answer the veteran player question, I would recommend to any and all new players that they take the time to look into and read the Grimoire. There is a ton of fascinating stuff in there, and it really exposes Destiny's deeper story and lore connections.

I believe the correct term was 'Kinder-Guardians'
-
Iron infants?
-
Have a friend who I think just got it Can't wait to play with a friend for once
-
To all new guardians. This is how to play crucible
-
New matchmaking + New inexperienced people = free kills

Remember in year one when Deej made a post about "Christmas Noobs"? And then a few days later he made another statement saying that no one deserves to ever be called a noob?

Best advice I have been given in PvP since I started playing is don't accept a loss as a loss. See it as a win cause if you paid any attention at all, you learned something. You saw how other guardians move and the way they play. I myself have been terribad with the last word until I just recently paid attention to how this one guy was using it. So pay attention, adapt, and keep your salt levels in check. Oh and make sure you watch out for that lag... it's everywhere

Tip: just finish the story before you go into the cruicible.

Veteran tip: Auto rifles are cool and fun but never top tier under any circumstances. :( Always, always do your first run of prison of elders for a high chance of getting an exotic. If there is a year 2 version chances are you can get a level 40 version as well from the kiosk. PvP is a sweaty place...stick to storyline, strikes and nightfalls unless you really want to. Destiny is super fun but lacks the connection ability and balance seen in other games. Above all, respect Randal for he is mighty!

Edited by zxionisus: 12/26/2016 3:46:49 AMChristmas boobs! (I am myself a Christmas noob 2014.) If you are new, the first thing you must do is go to Skywatch on patrol (once you are able). Head over to the cave on the way to the building on the opposite side. Kneel at the mouth of the cave and utter a prayer. Then shoot your gun 5 times inside the cave. Now enter. You will discover the remains of dead hive inside the cave. Disturb them. Receive the message. Now leave and never come back.

My advice is get a clan and stick with them.
