If no Dedicated servers in D2, I will not purchase.

These are my thoughts mainly centered on the crucible/PVP. Looking ahead: If there are no dedicated servers in Destiny 2, I will not be buying it. While Destiny features loot based RPG elements, it's still an FPS. Every good FPS has a good single, and multiplayer experience. In Destiny, there are a lot of moving parts for the network to track and report to all players in the lobby. I believe that it is requisite moving forward, that Bungie builds a solid foundation for D2, so that the current vision(which has boundless potential) functions correctly. I also don't believe that Bungie can innovate, or add anything beyond the experience of Destiny 1, if there are no dedicated servers. Looking back: I do believe that we have taken part in a beta of sorts with Destiny 1. We have had a dialogue going for several years about what we expect as players. Many issues such as player progression, vault space(still needs work), and better storytelling were addressed through the lifecycle of Destiny. Unfortunately, the dialogue relating to the crucible has been dysfunctional at best... A community Divided: From diversity killing weapon metas, to lag, to ever changing class balance and matchmaking issues, every change to PVP has created constant toxicity within the community. Instead of taking responsibility, I feel that the community managers have seized every opportunity to deflect blame onto the community itself. The nature of competitive gaming is one of tension and needs no further instigation from the developer... Unless of course that is the objective. Hiding in plain sight: The problem with the crucible always has, and remains to be the lack of dedicated servers. In essence, the crucible is broken at it's foundation, with little to no options for improvement. To combat this, Bungie has shuffled things around, sometimes benefitting one portion of the community, while shafting the other. This is most certainly present in the current matchmaking debacle... Bungie cannot seem to find an option that pleases both casual and hardcore players... This creates friction... and the recent tweet by Deej, is nothing short of throwing gas on the fire. Meanwhile, the community itself is more than willing to accept that it is their own community members that have caused the issue(via their feedback about bad matchmaking issues). In this process of calculated diversion, Bungie sits back and watches the ensuing chaos without a shred of accountability... The same tactics were used constantly with weapon patches and will be used moving forward, mark my words. A word of warning: If we are not unified, on what the actual issue is... Bungie will continue down this path. Fighting and blaming each other over one thing or another, only increases Bungie's confidence in being able to pull the wool over our eyes. It's a smart business move and I don't judge them for it... Why spend the resources, if your community: A. Can't identify the issue B. Can't identify the cause C. Can't accurately hold accountable, the party that has the ability to actually MAKE CHANGES! D. And is willing to blame each other for the problem. Closing thoughts: I want to play a game that plays great in all modes, if not great, god damn it, functional... I want to be a part of a community that is positive and hopeful, not divided and abusive to itself. If Bungie cannot provide a functional game, it will lead to toxicity, and it is doubtful, nor evident in any past event, that they will take responsibility... TLDR: So, this guardian will not be joining the fight against the darkness, training in the crucible, or patrolling the Galaxy, if Bungie is not DEDICATED to making it a functional, fun experience.

  • You have 100 days (maybe more) on this game. I guarantee a destiny fiend such as yourself WILL buy Destiny 2 without dedicated servers! You can play this rebellious card all you want but we all know you're gonna buy the game to satisfy the addiction!!

    • I agree that dedicated servers will be a must for D2, especially if its 60 FPS. However, before we even get there, if PVP isn't fully separated from PVE balancing, I won't even consider buying D2. And if they don't return to how things were in Y1, with some minor tweaks to make it more casual friendly (allowing max light outside of raid, no gear goes irrelevant because of new DLC, and optional matchmaking or other system to help players connect), then I won't be buying Destiny 2 either. IMO, the game has been going in the wrong direction since the launch of TTK.

      • No dedicated servers for destiny 2, that's a fact. P2P at heart for higher returns is buggy's moto. Sony is to blame too, they shouldn't allow it. But more importantly, no cooperative fun! That's because they ruined the community/clan spirit they worked so hard (and pissed us off so much) to create, and no sequel will fix that. Only no-lives individualist dickheads who have nothing to justify their existence other than their KD, and 8 to 12 years old (well that's only until their father or older friends and brothers say how cool other games are, and many will come in 2017/2018). I don't know about you guys, but yesterday's release didn't do anything to my 360+ destiny-based friends list. No one came back. No one. I have 8 pages of friends playing FFXV, Division, Rainbow6, Xenoverse2... 3 friends playing destiny (can I add that they only have destiny as game on their console?). This game is proof of how an amazing product can be ruined by poor management. I just personally wonder how ATVI can let this happen, I mean this game was a star product with 20mln players, it's now in the cash cow with less than 1mln. I mean that's a 95% decline from the times when this game was about patrolling/farming resources on planets and spending hours looking at the vex regenerating life in the VoG. Things like these are accepted only in the gaming industry, whatever other sector would have lead to a widespread management turnover.

      • If they have no dedicated servers we can safely say that bungie and it's partners are more worried about profit than player experience.

      • Make sure it's actually dedicated servers. Black ops 3 was a hybrid but they got to call them dedicated because it's hybrid and marketing has no -blam!-ing rules. Like how everything is "4K" now.

            • So if there aren't dedicated servers and you DON'T buy the game, does that means you'll still be on the forums bitching about the game?

                  • I'm not purchasing if I don't see major changes. If D2 decides to be a reskin of Destiny with a few touch ups I eon purchase. Dedicated servers are just the start of things that D2 will need for me to buy

                  • Just want to remind everyone that if any other game had put in as many microtransactions and expensive dlc as Destiny had, that game would've been crucified on the spot. Imagine if halo or the titanfall had done what destiny did? On top of having a story that wasn't that good AND having a lack of engaging content. Smh I don't know what it is and why people keep letting bungie slide

                    • So if it won't fix Destiny lag wise then why does Titanfall 2 and battlefield 1 play so much SMOOTHER. Your a fool if you think Dedicated servers won't help this game.💯💯💀💀💀💀💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣
I want to play a game that plays great in all modes, if not great, god damn it, functional
Destiny 2 should have dedicated servers. They'd add a lot value to the game and solve many of the lag issues that have plagued Crucible since launch. Absolutely no argument from me on this topic. However, I disagree with OP on wanting a game that plays great in all game modes. Destiny's best game made has been and always will be co-op, specifically the raids. While it's nice to have PvP in Destiny, I can find better PvP experiences elsewhere. Bungie should focus on single player and co-op content.

Servers are not the problem, People still have bad connections therefore lag is going to still exist P2P or Dedicated servers. It would reduce the amount but won't make it completely go away. Y

                    • I don't fully get it. I thought it did have a sort of dedicated servers?? Also, not being rude, just simply curious, is there a game with fully dedicated servers like Destiny that blows Destiny out of the water as far as connections, etc? Finally, I feel like 60 fps is the bigger deal. I will be very disappointed if D2 doesn't have 60 fps.

To be honest dedicated servers is what you think your solution to the problem of having a poor connection is. 95% of connection issues are your side of the modem. I almost never see lag. Dedicated servers is not the solution to your problem.

                        • I run 5mb down, and 2.5mb up. I never lag and that's all you need for a running console.
