Our teachers are to blame!

I know why this generation is so messed up! It's because our teachers allow us to be too lazy! We're entitled because we're given such easy, monkey work, and not expected to do much critical thinking. Ideally, we should work to a point that you cannot graduate highschool without full comprehension of tensor calculus and group theory. It only makes sense that we'll be smarter if we take what is to be expected of graduate students, and expect highschool students to do it instead. Think of how far ahead our graduate students will be!

  • American children are actually assigned anywhere from 2-5x more homework than any other country, even though other countries still outperform us in standardized testing. This means a lot of time spent cooped up inside studying, sending unengaging texts to friends between multiplication tables and book reports instead of going out and actually socializing and interacting with other human beings. That's why your generation is so messed up. We impose isolation on our children through a cold and oppressive education system that forces children to focus solely on themselves because they are not allowed adequate time to learn how to care about anyone else. We shouldn't be surprised then that children become all about "me" and struggle to forge meaningful connections or display empathy. When the opportunity is given to interact interpersonally children have no idea how to handle it. This is why I boot my kid out of the house whenever I can. Not because I don't love her or wish she would stay home with us, but because she needs to forge connections outside of her parents and learn how to coincide with a wide variety of people, seeing things from a wide variety of viewpoints.
