Here is a list of games you can currently be DoS'd offline in: Destiny. Here is a list of games where you don't have to worry about being DoS'd: All other games. Gg Bungie. You're #1 at something again.

  • Idk, I've had my fair share of ddos on overwatch, it's not just destiny. It's any game a scrub decides play and soon finds that the only way he can win is to eliminate the competition.

  • I'd like to point out that you can be DDoS'd offline in any game, someone just needs the right IP address to target. Having it be P2P simply makes it easier to obtain that information.

  • I can't comment on how hard it is to get the IP addresses in other games, as I don't play a lot of them. my guess is that it's not all that hard, if you actually want to do it. It never has been before, really, and most people don't think to or know to protect either that information or themselves from detection / attack. Bungie allows people to find out a lot easier what they need to know, but it's completely doable in almost any system out there, most likely without a lot of effort. Dedicated servers add a layer of separation between your connection info and an attacker, but it's still the connection between you and the server or your ISP that's vulnerable. The server system doesn't add any protection to it at all, just security through obscurity, which is the lowest rank or file of 'protection'. Rent a bot server for $30-100 a month, set all of them up with a script tied to a browser interface. Enter a password and an IP address, and the bot net all execute a LOIC or similar attack at once. All from the security of some tiny nation where US law doesn't matter. For bonus points, run the script through remote terminals that are proxied out about 50 times through high-traffic public systems, and there's not a lot of chance to even catch you doing it. This is low-information, super-basic network attacking too, so I'm sure there are even 'better' ways to execute this. And no, as an aside, I don't do this, nor will I, but it's part of my job to understand it.
