Forums tell me to 'Join Up' when I'm signed in.

I keep getting the yellow 'Join Up' button at top right while signed in (with no 'Sign In' button beside it). It doesn't let me post or up/downvote posts when it does this, and when I click 'Join Up' it tells me I'm signed in with Xbox Live and gives me an option to continue. This kicks me back to the main Forums page signed in proper, but most of the time if I open a thread to participate in it, it goes back to 'Join Up' and not letting me do anything.

  • This should be fixed now. A JS error cropped up yesterday morning. We were able to hotfix it today.

    • Two days now and this shit is still going on. Is there anyone competent at this company or did they all get fired or driven away? They can't even keep their forum working right.

      • Same here. Happend just after I criticsed the moderators. Just goes to show the moral repugnance of them and Bungie. They are a disgrace.

        • It's been reported. Forums are acting up again with the 'world" icon and notifications with the REPLY/View option. Navigate to a menu (on the top menu bar) and then go back into the forum.
-QA Test Engineer (a.k.a. AR IS4 NUBS)
Originally posted this on another thread, but I'll lay it down here as well: It can be frustrating, that's for sure. Fairly certain this is a scripting error / bug, as it's affecting both mobile phones and computers. It has to do with being 'linked' to a page on Bungie.net. When you click something, the site normally just loads anything clicked on below the profile bar, but for some reason or another, it's trying to fully buffer / load the entire page from scratch including the profile bar, which screws with it, because it isn't coded to check your login status every time you click something. Probably has to due with the way the website cache script is being processed. I usually work around this by simply revisiting the home page until all your profile icons/notifications reappear in the top right corner as normal, then you can manually go back to your destination. You'll usually know when it's about to mess up if you click something and the usual loading indicator doesn't appear in the middle of the screen and it tries to reload the entire link you're clicking on. I'm sure Bungie is aware of this issue at this point and working on a fix, as it most likely affects their logins as well! All we can do is be patient, unfortunately!

          • Looks like an error in javascript or some coding error. Firefox console shows: TypeError: Bnet.Site.pageController is undefined /areabundle/forums:1:49185 Chrome developer tools, console, shows forums:1 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property 'allowSamePathname' of undefined The only workaround for me is to click on All topics or anything below, and open up topics that way. Opening topics in any other ways always gives me "join up" in website, with the above error in developer console.

                • Same thing, if I go to main "Forums" tab. Navigating to any sub-heading shows me as signed in, I can post, reply, and so on. I've seen this before... it was annoying then, it's annoying now.

Any bets on what will be fixed first - this, Bungo servers or Student of History?

                • Yeah, and there is an ad for a new controller blocking my view of text when I click on threads in certain forums. Not to mention the floating limbo of text for menus that follows me like a ghost. Pretty sure it's website maintenance.

                • Do you have more than one XBL account that could have logged into that browser on a different Microsoft network ? Try going to xbox.com and signing out of your XBL account there. Once it clearly shows you are logged out, come back here and try logging in.
