But there is... It is win based and SBMM
-
There is sbmm in trials. They have the card matchmaking and then SBMM ON TOP OF THAT Which is insane. If i bring a good team to trials, i shouldnt be forced to have a harder time purely because my team is skilled. I like the card system because it makes it competitive and intense, but i shouldnt have an easier time by bringing a terrible team with me. It should be consistent throughout.
-
So part of your argument is "just because my team is skilled doesn't mean I should have to play skilled players." Actually it does. In literally ANY competitive venue, in ANY form of competition, the skill of the competitors matters. Because if it doesn't, it can't truly be considered competitive, can it? The Chicago Cubs are somehow going to The World Series. They can't say, "oh, we don't want to have to try so hard to win the championship, we'd rather play a Little League team instead of The Indians."
-
But you still have to play people with skill, thats the entire system with card based mathcmaking. I just believe that if i bring a solid team that can win throughout, i shouldnt have to go up against resolute on win #9 compared to if i brought a scrub team and went up against the lowest bracket pf players that had made it for win #9. Its not a massive issue, its not like i have issues going flawless, i just want to make it known that there is a double layered matchmaking system which i think is unnecessary, especially considering the importance of solid connections in trials and other competitive gamemodes
-
Again, you're making the point that you really don't have a problem getting to the lighthouse, you'd just like it to be easier.
-
Not necessarily, when im playing with my low skill team i shouldnt gain an advantage just because my team is low skilled. Thats pandering to low skilled players, which bungie has done too much of. It works both ways.
-
You're absolutely right. It works both ways. The problem is, you're not looking anywhere beyond what this system means for you. If you're truly skilled, Bungie didn't implement this system for you. You'll just have to learn how to get over that fact. This system was designed for the masses. And the masses are not skilled. By definition, the average player is, well, average. This system is meant to provide the most evenly matched competition possible along all skill sets. Not for good players to have it easier, not for bad players to have a free ride.

I totally see where youre coming from, and agree that trials requires similarly balanced teams to go up against eachother. I just think that the card system already does this well enough, and that sbmm on top of that reduces connection quality for little gain. Im just gonna stop here now, i don't think this is too much of an issue at the moment. Good debate sir
-
whatever, sorry but I really don't care a jot about Trials so have never studied it, but I think you are mistaken they use a different formula for Trials than normal crucible it is on wins on your card everyone is always whining about SBMM and as no one on the forums knows what formula Bungie uses and most people couldn't even tell the difference when playing as they just judge it on the amount of lag which is ridiculous Even the OP wants to get rid of SBMM except in Trials where they think it will help them to the Lighthouse lol
-
I do care a "jot" about trials
-
lucky you!
-
I know the formula is different, im sorry but im not sure what you are trying to convey..
-
well if it's card based that is not sbmm!!!!
-
Its both, hence what i said in my previous replies. It should only be card based, but bungie has skill based card based mathcmaking, when i it should be connection based card based matchmaking. I dont see how i can explain this more simply
-
and how exactly do you know what formula Bungie use???
-
Because i play trials with two set fireteams, one consisting of my friends, which is the lower skilled one, and one consisting of people i do sweats with, who are higher skilled. Whilst team 1 does run into some fierce competition, my games in team 2 are much more intense, and i come across teams with like 40+ win streaks, streamers, high profile clan members, and overall just individuals who have incredible skill, which happens far less often with team 1. But cozmo is just going to appear and prove me wrong, but thats my personal experience. I may be wrong, but i am confident in my perception.
-
well whatever you think!! as I said I really don't care at all about trials, sbmm or cbmm I made 1 comment and you have made it into war and peace and this is where I leave the thread, as you really don't know what formula is used just guesswork and once again don't care!!!
-
It's both.
-
Appreciated :)
-
Yes cause going against a red bar every match is even better
-
it actually does not make any difference to lag!! The last thing Bungie said was it was more connection based than skill, yet everyday on the forums, "get rid of sbmm"
-
I only made the the point there is no sbmm in trials, but anyway do you really think people with low k/d don't play with or against red bars!!! when are you gonna get it sbmm or cbmm makes no difference to red bar players!!
-
Sbmm is in effect for low skill players, and has the same negative features such as poor connections. Cbmm would fix that, because its, you know, connection based....
-
Wrong sbmm is not only for low skilled, it is so you play against people of your own level so get a more competitive game!!! how is cbmm gonna fix it, when that is what they mainly have now???? you like most people just follow the crap on the forums and don't actually know what you are talking about!!
-
I was saying that sbmm is in effect for all skill levels including low skill and high skill. The main issue is being matched against a decreased pool of players that match your skill but may have poor connections to you. Cbmm makes it so you prioritise connections. It drastically widens the pool or players you can match against, and makes sure that all those players have good connections towards you
