Lots of people are up in arms with the idea that our guns, armour, ships, shaders etc. may be locked in Destiny 1 and incapable of being used in Destiny 2. A lot of us spent lots and lots of time getting it, myself included.
There could be a system implemented to allow gear to transfer from Destiny 1 into Destiny 2, that could be:
- Unlocked after a certain part of the game, e.g. after final campaign quest.
- Have gear only be unlocked at the max level
- Have gear start a very low level and require a special item to make it a usable level
- Have limited gear brought through, e.g. only what is equipped on each character (should the characters change in classes and such armour wouldn't work, so maybe just 3 of each type of everything that can work cross character.)
- Have gear be given back slowly.
For example, with the last point Bungie could do this in many ways, such as:
-Having an item that would allow purchase of a previous weapon from say, a treasure finder. This means that you could pick which weapon you want from a few options, which change every week, until you get everything back. This could work similar to gunsmith packages, a weapon sighting could be reported, a week later you can redeem your weapon.
- A reward system, e.g. getting an item that allows you to redeem an item. There would be a limited amount of these items, they could be gained through daily/weekly activities, could be questline rewards or maybe even raids or endgame activities. Either way, upon getting one of these items you will be allowed to redeem an item you pick, and will have to get another "key" to redeem another.
- Have a transfer system that allows x amount of items to be transferred each day/week, you pick the item, once it arrives you can upgrade it to a useable level, or if need be use a late-game item to.
Having a complete and total wipe of gear and progress would annoy a lot of people, myself included. But many people still want a fresh start. This allows those who want it to get their beloved No Land Beyo- GEAR back but those who don't to start fresh, and get it later on should they change their mind.
If they made everyone have a fresh start then have a big update a few months later start allowing stuff to be brought back that would work for me.
Edit: Lots of you are saying you want new gear, but why not have both? Bungie wouldn't have to spend too much effort re-making weapons compared to designing completely new ones.
-
Its a new game if it didn't restart it wouldn't be new! And shouldn't Destiny have all new everything?
-
Better connections for destiny 2. Oh wait. I used that too much.
-
Let 343 develop it
-
I'd love to keep my character. Everything else I don't care about.
-
What also needs to be asked is what happens to the Destiny 1 content after D2 gets released. Will it still be supported? Will players still be able to do all the content that was released to that point or will they make D2 an extension and require you to get it if you wish to continue doing certain matchmaking content?
-
Or not make Destiny 2, actually finish this game first, still waiting on a continuation of the main quest...

Otherwise all im seeing is a bunch of nerds who put way too much effort into a game crying because they don't want it to become redundant.

Complete fresh start. Only keep emblems, shaders, and grimore.
-
It's a new game. Getting characters transfered just makes it another expansion.
-
Or they could make Destiny 2 and actual new game. Everybody that wants there old stuff back is looking at it as just another expansion. This is an entirely new game, as in start from scratch, new story, new characters but still a continuation of the destiny franchise. (At Least I hope so, be a huge waste if it wasn't) I'm sorry to say but if all my items and armour carries over it won't feel like a new game at all to me and wouldnt be worth my time
-
I think the idea of losing all your gear is slightly heart-breaking, but at the same time, wouldn't it just feel like a DLC to Destiny if there was a another side story with both new weapons and old, but everyone just wanting their old weapons back? If it was a brand new game and not DLC i'd want a shiny new game, completely new story and completely new gear. At the exact same time, i wouldn't want them to change destiny, i think its perfect the way it is. Yes somethings could be tweaked but every time they bring out a new DLC, it's got so much new, amazing content that it feels like a new game. New enemies, new guns, gear, story line, questions, bounties, planets...best game i have ever played. All my opinion of course.

There is no way we are going to carry over any gear or abilities or anything else. Destiny 2 is a new game with new characters that will (hopefully) advance the story and Destiny universe. I could see Grimiore carry over perhaps so the lore is not lost. Outside of that it should be a reset otherwise it is just a giant expansion and not a new game. Don't hold on to the past and embrace the future. Destiny has been a lot of fun or most of us would not still be here. Destiny 2 will be an even better experience (hopefully).
-
Have our Grimore carry over! That way we can separate the day 1 players from the new players and no one gets punished.

Edited by the spicy one: 9/29/2016 10:55:00 PMOr how about GIVE ME NEW STUFF. I don't want to use the same stuff I've been using for 2+ years already
-
If we do lose our gear I hope we can see our guardian in the campaign in a cut scene and we hear about their achievements and stuff. Also I think it would be cool if we found an item of theirs that is broken that we can have as an artifact.
-
I'm fine with loosing my weapons/armor but I'd like to be able to keep my shaders and emblems. I'd like to show off my moments of triumph emblems and my beta emblems. Also it may seem silly but I'm actually kinda attached to my characters too. Maybe we can bring them forward and have more customization options (hair, eye color, etc) basically editing the character

Once a father and son were walking with their mule. A person walking by said "why are you walking when you have an animal you could ride on?" So the boy started riding the mule. Another person walking by said "the strong young man gets to ride while the elderly man walks?" So the boy got off and the father rode. Another person said "the father is making his son walk while he gets to ride?" So they both got on. "Over loading an animal like that? You should be ashamed." So they tied the mules legs to a log and carried it. On a bridge, the lost their balance and the mule fell in the river and drown.
you can't please everyone
after the hell ive been through before getting the vallsgarde shader, they want to lock it ffs
-
Stop crying, new game new characters, it's part of the process
-
The only thing this game has failed to do is keep all weapons and armour relevant...that diversity is all the game is missing.
-
How about none of the above? New weapons and armour for a new game would be nice.
-
Edited by PashWagon501: 9/29/2016 7:36:36 PMShould be allowed one legendary item for each type of item to carry forward. And they should be only usable in regular pvp or when messing about in Patrol activities. No exotics. What would you choose if you could only carry one primary, one cloak/mark/bond, one ship etc?
-
we shouldn't bring any gear forward, but it would be cool to have exclusive ships/shaders/emblems, or even missions that can give us some exclusive OG Destiny gear, provided it wasnt op
-
It is going to be a stand alone title. How are they supposed to pit your old atari graphics equipment in a new engine?
-
Edited by PizzaMan725: 9/29/2016 4:41:11 PMIt all depends on what assets they plan to use for the new title. But since no one that is posting actually knows anything there isn't a problem yet.
