Legacy Engram Or No Legacy Engram

Quick question regarding today's Primary Weapon Legacy Engram. All my exotics are Year 2 only, there are a couple of Weapons I still want. If I buy an engram will it give me a Year 1 version of a Year 2 weapon I don't yet have, or will it ignore the Y2 weapons I have and give me any Y1 weapon. I know how the engrams work regarding Y1 to Y2 but not sure if I would get a Y1 of a Y2 I still need, or a Y1 of a Y2 weapon I already have. If it's the latter I'll just try my luck with 3 Of Coins rather than risk getting a weapon I already have.

  • Thanks to everyone who replied. I DID hope Legacy Engrams would take my Y2 Exotics into account but clearly they won't, so I'll stick to the Three Of Coins and finally .... Finally get a Supercell. Died from that gun one too many times now 😉😁

  • Year 2 doesn't come into play. But it will give you a Y1 you don't have. I used this method to get about a 3rd of my Y2 weapons that existed in Y1, but you do have to potentially go through a few you already have, but at least you'll get shards when you break them down, and it can be fun to use the Y1 weapons that were not brought forward (though some are coming in Y3, and maybe all?)

  • Stick with coins. Y1 only looks at what you have for y1. It doesn't look at what you have for y2.

  • It's all year 1 exotics, so even if you have a year 2 MIDA, you might get the year 1 version.

  • I think its weighted more towards Y1 weapons you don't have but don't take my word for it.

    • If you don't have a Y2 exotic or its Y1 counterpart, getting the legacy engram will essentially allow you to buy the Y2 version for 150 marks, as you will have "discovered" the exotic from Y1 with the engram. Otherwise, the legacy engram doesn't have any other practical use - other than to satisfy OCD collectors like myself out there, lol.

    • Read your other post, and yes you should definitely buy Zhalo while Xur has it.

    • If all of your exotics are year 2 only, it will basically get you a random year 1. However, it's designed to give you a year 1 exotic you don't have. So the more you buy, the more likely you will be to get those things that you want. If you spend on 3oC, you might get nothing but armor engrams. Legacy engrams are a guaranteed way to get those year 1 weapons, if you have enough coins to put in them. It's a process of elimination until you have them all.
