Did Nova Bomb Really Need a 50% Buff (150% with shatter)?

Just in case you all didn't know, the "Shatter" perk on the nova bomb makes it ridiculously strong against the Ward of Dawn. Shatter was no fun to deal with in the past because if any one of the 3 bombs landed, the bubble would go down. This left 2 bombs left to kill the defender inside. AND THEN........the damage buff happened....... it is now physically impossible to survive a nova bomb with shatter after it's current damage buff. Bungie said themselves that "other supers weren't getting enough love." I think they forgot that people still use defender's in the crucible. Golden gun now one shots armor of light (used to be 2) and shatter is a guaranteed kill. There is no other super in the game that can kill a defender 100% of the time. I suggest the Ward of Dawn gets a buff to its health, or the defender gets an exotic so suppressor grenades will auto detonate on proximity. This would give Defenders a fighting chance against this deadly airborne super ability.

If a striker titan's smash hits a blade dancer, storm caller.... They die. If a tether shoots anyone in a super they lose thier super. Why shouldnt a nova bomb destroy a bubble? All classes have supers that can trump another its part of the game

    • If it was already impossible to survive a nova bomb before buff, why should it be any different? The only thing the damage buff affected in pvp was the damage falloff range. They also stealth buffed titan bubbles because it still takes 2 gg shots to take it down even though it can do 110% more damage

      • As a PvE player, yes it did. The weeks since those changes were made have been the first that abilities like Nova Bomb and Fist of Havoc have felt substantial enough to influence endgame PvE gameplay. As someone who plays a lot of Defender, though, I am sympathetic to your arguments. However, I don't think the solution lies with buffing the Ward. I've been telling people for a while now that the Ward is what it is. Because of its nature, it's either going to be an immovable obstacle or its going to be speed bump. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. Defenders certainly aren't the only class who aren't getting multiple easy kills from their super. But consider the way the Defender's talent grid is setup. In the two neutral columns we have: Bastion (Ward only) Relentless (Pretty good) Gift of the Void (Support, Ward only) Untouchable (Ward only) Iron Harvest (Support) Illuminated (Ward only) No other class has so many neutral talents that do nothing apart from the super, and that is paired with a super that tends to be somewhat inconsequential. Only Relentless actually does anything to increase the Defender's own combat potential. That is how you go from a super that sometimes feels like a glorified speed bump to an entire class that sometimes feels like a glorified speed bump. What Defenders need, in my opinion, is one build where they can focus on actually holding their own in a fight. Whether that happens by combining existing talents to make room for a new ability, or by adding supplemental effects to existing "Ward only" talents I don't think matters too much. Either way, there are existing talents in the game that can serve as examples. It's just a matter of actually getting enough popular support to get the problem addressed.
