Summary of Reach Game Informer Information

Here's some information I gleaned from the mag, summarised into a post. [b]Don't post saying "Wolverfrog copied and pasted this from *Insert lazy news website here*." I'm the original gatherer of this info, loads of websites have been copying it without giving credit where it's due.[/b] [b]Links to any magazine scans will NOT be posted in this thread, period. Jorge is the only Spartan II on the team, and as a result is larger. - Carter 259 and Kat 320 are the only members of their original squad. - Jorge is a heavy weapons specialist. - "Skully" now has a name, Emile 239. He's the silent type of the game. - The sniper is called Jun 266. He's thoughtful and taciturn. - We can customise the appearance of the Lone Wolf by a small degree. Awesome. - The game is apparently darker than any of the other Halo games, even more so than ODST. - Human Insurrectionists are possibly in the game - Bungie have once again made the Covenant more dangerous and frightening, as they were in Halo 1. - Covenant soldiers no longer speak English, they speak in their own languages. - A new enemy like a Jackal has been introduced, named a "Skirmisher." They are deadly and cunning enemies that attack in packs, and flank secure positions. - Graphics have been improved drastically, as proven by in-magazine comparisons. - Elites are back, and are more ferocious than ever. - Larger scale combat will be in Reach. Where only 20 AI at a time could be on screen in Halo 3, now over 40 AI and 20 vehicles can be present at a time. - Scenes are more cinematic. - Noble Team splits up at a point in the story, but it seems they soon get back together. - Health Bar is back along with energy shield. - Single shot rifle like the Halo 2 E3 demo is in the game, named the Designated Marksman Rifle (DRM) - Sniper, AR and Magnum make a return. Gun sounds are more realistic. - Needler Rifle is in the game, a mid-range headshot capable weapon. - Spike Grenades and Flame Grenades are out. Only frags and plasma remain. - Helicopter Transport is called the Falcon. - Civillian vehicles are now drivable. - Fully stealthy gameplay is now possible. - Assassinations are possible with a knife by holding down the melee button. - Sprinting is now possible through an equipment like mechanic. - Spirits, the Covenant drop ship in CE, return in Reach, alongside Phantoms. - Grunts look a lot more menacing. - Motion Tracker seems compressed, like an oval rather than the Halo 3 circle. - Hud is yellow rather than blue. - Marines look vaguely like Halo 1 marines. - Phantoms now have a flashlight, like the one seen in the ODST announcement trailer. - Elites seem taller, and are no longer hunched. - All features from Halo 3 (Forge, Theatre, Co-op) make a comeback along with several new ones. - We will be shown what Reach looks like before it is destroyed. We will see the levels of destruction progress as we get further through the game, implying the game takes place over a longish period of time. [quote][/quote] That's basically what I've got so far.   • Thanks, I was wondering where this list originated. I saw it posted up on Facility B5D and just about every other Halo website written exactly like it is here. In other words, thanks for the great sum and wright up we used on our site. ^Guy above me, I couldn't have put it better myself.   • I dont think its REPLACING the BR, I think its a gap filler between the BR and the Sniper. Which is.. AWESOME! We finally have a full range of UNSC weapons. Close- Shotgun Close to Medium- Assault Rifle Medium to Medium long- Battle Rifle Medium long to Long- Designated Marksman Rifle Long to -blam!-- Sniper Im not sure where the Pistol fits at this point and an SMG if included.

To be all honest the [b]DMR SEEMS TO BE OUR VERSION OF THE DAM CARBINE[/b]! Now if thats the case, I think it should be a good addition to the game. Perhaps make rapid fire make it innacurate, but either way I want to try it out before I give my verdict.

  • halo reach sounds to me like combining the best aspects of every halo game(halo ce awesome feeling,halo 2 longlevity and innovations,halo 3 new tech,halo wars armies and vehicles and halo 3 ODST free roam,stealth and darkness) i fully agree with the DMR replacing thr BR cause it is what i allways wanted,a semi auto, powerful,devastating in the right hands(IMO the halo2 BR was lame and the halo 3 not as skillful as i expected)accurate rifle. i m really looking forward to the new Equipment and driving all the civilian vehicles

  • Although I can see a lot of changes in this game, I find that the health bar is probably a good idea, although I have to admit in vs. (if they give us vs unlike ODST...) the health bar will irritate dozens of players if not thousands... Grenades being removed wont be much of a problem for me, I rarely use anything but frags and stickies myself. I'm also glad to see the return of the SPIRIT dropships, I liked throwing grenades next to those things haha. I can understand a lot of these returns to COMBAT EVOLVED systems, seems to me that Bungie wants to return to the old roots from where the game came from. Best of all is adding civillian vehicles AND keeping forge! This is a gift to machinema makers, although I have one plee... [b]LET US LOWER THE DAM WEAPONS ONLINE BUNGIE!![/b]

  • That all sounds really good... for the campaign. But i'd hate to see a multiplayer with the health system. I don't think it would work, if after a battle, you need to creep back to an area to get a health pack. Id also hate to see weapons present in the other games not in multiplayer. I understand the campaign has to be accurate, but online doesn't. I would love all the new weapons and vehicles and stuff in multiplayer, but keep the normal health system, and weapons like the br, even if they aren't in campaign. Im not sure how armour perks will work in it either, although beta will prove me wrong im sure.
