Summary of Reach Game Informer Information

Here's some information I gleaned from the mag, summarised into a post. [b]Don't post saying "Wolverfrog copied and pasted this from *Insert lazy news website here*." Jorge is the only Spartan II on the team, and as a result is larger. - Carter 259 and Kat 320 are the only members of their original squad. - Jorge is a heavy weapons specialist. - "Skully" now has a name, Emile 239. He's the silent type of the game. - The sniper is called Jun 266. He's thoughtful and taciturn. - We can customise the appearance of the Lone Wolf by a small degree. Awesome. - The game is apparently darker than any of the other Halo games, even more so than ODST. - Human Insurrectionists are possibly in the game - Bungie have once again made the Covenant more dangerous and frightening, as they were in Halo 1. - Covenant soldiers no longer speak English, they speak in their own languages. - A new enemy like a Jackal has been introduced, named a "Skirmisher." They are deadly and cunning enemies that attack in packs, and flank secure positions. - Graphics have been improved drastically, as proven by in-magazine comparisons. - Elites are back, and are more ferocious than ever. - Larger scale combat will be in Reach. Where only 20 AI at a time could be on screen in Halo 3, now over 40 AI and 20 vehicles can be present at a time. - Scenes are more cinematic. - Noble Team splits up at a point in the story, but it seems they soon get back together. - Health Bar is back along with energy shield. - Single shot rifle like the Halo 2 E3 demo is in the game, named the Designated Marksman Rifle (DRM) - Sniper, AR and Magnum make a return. Gun sounds are more realistic. - Needler Rifle is in the game, a mid-range headshot capable weapon. - Spike Grenades and Flame Grenades are out. Only frags and plasma remain. - Helicopter Transport is called the Falcon. - Civillian vehicles are now drivable. - Fully stealthy gameplay is now possible. - Assassinations are possible with a knife by holding down the melee button. - Sprinting is now possible through an equipment like mechanic. - Spirits, the Covenant drop ship in CE, return in Reach, alongside Phantoms. - Grunts look a lot more menacing. - Motion Tracker seems compressed, like an oval rather than the Halo 3 circle. - Hud is yellow rather than blue. - Marines look vaguely like Halo 1 marines. - Phantoms now have a flashlight, like the one seen in the ODST announcement trailer. - Elites seem taller, and are no longer hunched. - All features from Halo 3 (Forge, Theatre, Co-op) make a comeback along with several new ones. - We will be shown what Reach looks like before it is destroyed. We will see the levels of destruction progress as we get further through the game, implying the game takes place over a longish period of time. [quote][/quote] That's basically what I've got so far.   • My only hope is that the DMR rifle is not over powered like the BR and pistol. And just so you guys know, a lot of stuff here has some relationship with a Call of Duty item, and yet you guys aren't complaining because Bungie was the one who released the idea, not a user on the forums. Hypocrites Lol.

After some quick calculations, it appears that the other members of Team Noble are not so small after all. Team Noble: Carter - 208.3 CM (6'8") Jorge - 223.5 CM (7'3") Kat - 205.7 CM (6'7") Emile - 208.4 CM (6'8") Jun - 210.5 CM (6'9") Team Blue: John 117 - 6'10" Sam - 7'6" Kelly - Mid 6 Feet Fred - ??   • Man, I am really stoked for this game. After reading the summary and catching a few scans, I can't wait for the beta, more or less any new info coming out in the coming months. The wait is going to be a ton of fun. ; ) As for the article itself, I am thoughtfully impressed. The game seems much more tight and clean, and though there weren't many hints as to what specifically the plot line will be, I think we are in for an epic campaign experience. As for the technical stuff, everything looks wonderful. The one in-game screenshot they provided was amazing, and the detail added to the guns really makes them look more realistic. I am glad they are reverting the Covenant to the ruthless killing machines we knew back in Halo: CE. The graphics look immensely improved from Halo 3, and I can't wait to see some HD in-game gameplay. Overall, I'm stoked. ~RoKKeR~

  • It seems to have a couple features that are coming from the same direction as "COD", but that doesn't mean it will play at all like COD. Halo and COD have very different gameplay; I don't think adding a couple armour options is going to make Reach feel like COD. I'm betting it will still feel and play very much like Halo, just with a new twist.

  • After looking through that, there were several moments where I just thought Diet Dr. Pepper. Phantoms instead of the Halo 1 dropship, adding another Spartan II, adding new Spartan IIIs, changing weapons, adding alien species, changing there appearances... I'm sure Bungie will be able to tie all this into the canon (I hope), and beside those few minor things, I feel like Halo: Reach will be my favorite game of all time.

To paint something can often mean to apply colored tint, often to make design. Not necessarily using the substance paint. It wasn't something like "He has a skull painted on his helmet."
