Taking special ammo from beginning of Trials gives advantage to the better teams.

The idea is that the beginning of a trials match will be a primary technical battle with less sniping. However, I don’t think sniping is the main issue, but rather the matchmaking, nevertheless here is how it goes. Either: A - the hardcore players wipe the other team before that team can get special, and then the hardcore team gets special. This gives that hardcore team the ultimate edge, as they can now use special weapons to kill the other team before they ever get special. Moreover, the casual team could have at least got some kills if they had a special weapon to use. B - you get some team using weapons like Ice Breaker or No Land Beyond to snipe in the beginning anyways, which defeats the main goal of taking special away. Using No Land Beyond is no big deal, it has its negatives, and team’s should look out for it. Using Ice Breaker just seems cheap. So, now in order for a team to compete they will have to use Ice Breaker to Ice Breaker or NLB to NLB to at least cancel. Seems like taking special away really just hurts the casual player. Those players may not have been destined to go flawless anyways, but at least make it to 5 or 7 wins is not asking too much. Those items aren’t adept or dropping at 320. On another note, why in the shell does a team from America get matched with a team in Canada or Mexico? Makes no sense, unless the servers can handle that separation, which they can’t. Every time these matchups occur; the game is froth with teleporting and red bars. This was and is the real issue, not special ammo and snipers. People get sniped anyway, and still they were not going to make it to the lighthouse without carry. Yet making it to 7 wins should not be crazy hard either.

  • That's the thing the nobody gets, the better players/teams will always find a way. When a change happens they will as well, I'm not the best but I understand any "fix" won't change a players ability to adapt.

    • That is the difference between good and bad. The good players adapt to the changes to keep the edge, or will "control" the game. They're good. Bad players, or even just average players, will loss to these players unless they find a way to adapt. Learn from defeat and victory. There's always a lesson.
unfortunately rng has blessed some with icebreaker so adapting wasn't as hard for some
So the... Better team will win... And thats a... Bad thing? Read that title again. 1. They always had the advantage. 2. If you are SO DESPERATE for special ammo do the stupid ice breaker thing. Was running TLW, and my sniper and was doing fine and I'm an average joe.

        • I played Crimson Doubles with both ice breaker and invective. I've had several matches where me and my pretty shitty team mate were using invective and we still won. Ice breaker is good, but for some reason, it's not as scary as 1000 yard stare. Trials is also for the hard core so all is fair in war to them. Be happy they made a year 1 weapon relevant in end game content. "Bring up year 1 stuff but don't make it too good"

        • I agree with everything you have said here, its rock solid logic. However, Trials is not for casual players. Its the least welcoming, least forgiving, and most competitive PVP arena found in Destiny. I understand that you know this, but I don't see why something which increases the skill gap between players is wrong for the Trials. Personally I loathe the Trials. I don't enjoy it, don't like the game type and I refuse to put up with the crap that I see people pull in there. But I won't deny that if you can't win in Trials, you really don't belong in there.

        • Don't worry buddy I understand, ppl are just so negative on the forms. Now casual players going against higher ranked players can't come back as the under dog, or can do nothing but get one shotted by a special and can't get a kill or trade!

          • Equip a side arm when you start you will start with ammo second round switch to preferred special weapon during the round transition and you will have special guaranteed for round 2.

            • First of all, it makes it fair. Second of all, if you're complaining about nlb and icebreaker, then shut up. thousand yard has 60 some odd aim assist. Icebreaker had about 20. Making it tons harder to get a no skill kill. On top of that, it requires a player with loads of skill to use an nlb successfully. Neither of these weapons are easy to use. On top of that, icebreaker doesn't allow you to have special for your weapon until you switch when you die or the round ends. Again, shut up. These people are just better than you. We don't need to hear your butthurt whining.
