In all seriousness, im just curious about the reason of why people from the USA refer to their country as America. It's not that i hate it, but being from America (the continent) makes me wonder... Are people from the USA self-centered enough to refer themselves as a whole continent??

We didn't start that trend, but it's kind if hard to use USA since that's an abbreviation. You can say Canadian, but what do you say for the United States of [North]America? A USAn? A USman/USwoman? American is just easier to roll off of the tongue.
