Trials Lighthouse Sherpas, Good or Bad?

They are good, they help make a person's day and the Sherpa is giving back to the Community.

3283

They are bad, it lets people get flawless handed to them and the Sherpas are taking the fun out of trials.

Alright guys and girls, here is the deal, I have been posting of a few Trials Flawless Sherpa posts. I have a pretty high KD, a good medal score, and have been flawless almost 50 times. This attracted lots of people to reply to me. I told them to all PM me and we could work out details, but after awhile I started getting hate messages from either "Elitists" or people who have tried and failed many times at Flawless. The messages said things like "You're a scrub for doing carries, everyone needs to earn the Lighthouse with people on skill levels as themselves. If they have a 0.6, they play with maybe 0.8s and 0.7s. Stop doing carries, it's ruining trials" Personally I think that everyone should have the chance to see the light of mercury at least once, no matter the skill level of the player. What do you guys think of trials carries? Discuss freely! EDIT - If anyone wants to see mercury send GraffitiDrifter a friend request on Xbox One. I have about 50 lighthouse visits. It's controversial. At first, I would expect a good match when I see someone with the Flawless emblem. These days, a majority of them perform horribly. Especially in Skirmish, where they end up dead last or ragequit from going negative, even when we're in the lead.

      • The awkward part about this is that all these 'sherpas' that play trials again and again over the weekends are actually hurting the chances of more people than they are helping. You're going to do what you're going to do and it's unlikely that it will be stopped, but it bugs me when sherpas think they're being generous to the community when they're essentially trolling.

It's good for the one person you are carrying and bad for all the teams that you are beating to get there. Everytime you win you are potentially stopping 3 players who have never been to the lighthouse. I don't think the people who are whining about a scrub seeing the lighthouse have a point. But the truth is you are bumping out a lot more people than you are helping.

          • I think its good, same as raid carries, but i also think they should put a strict 3 flawless a week limit, because while raids can still be entered, after each character finished there is zero loot, in trials you still get drops for marks and also in the raid you are helping people whereas in trials to keep going flawless you hand other teams still trying a loss, its part of the reason why in the second game on my card i faced the guys who 5-0'd mtashed last week. Or at the very least put players who went flawless that week into their own player bracket and only dip into that bracket at the 9-0 games

            • I think that if it's all free there is no reason to for people to send hate messages I haven't been to the lighthouse because i play with friends who have went flawless and we get paired with people who have gone flawless I would love to go flawless at least once

              • I'm kinda in the middle. Because I like to see people who go to the lighthouse for their first time. I just went on my 9th flawless with a guy who never went flawless before. But then again if someone gets carried it can waste someone's time thinking the other person who got carried actually wasn't carried. And in trials no one wants to waste time. So its okay to me.

No I keep trying because its good experience and practice and I'll probably get there by monday. Sure it's frustrating last card my mercy loss was against dysclosure whose like #24 overall on Xb1. I couldnt even see people before I was down. Him and 1 other guy were carrying someone else. Did I get salty? Nope because maybe one day I'll get to that point but Im nowhere near that level as it stands. Just got to keep plugging away.

                            • They're good. With carries possible, it means that the emblem isn't an accurate show of skill... BUT Getting carried - unless you're literally just sitting still, AFK - you're still learning how to play better. So with enough help through Trials, the people needing help could become the helpers. All in good time.

                              • I totally have the potential to go flawless in trials. I just really need a good team. I carried my friend (who's a MAJOR noob, I mean like his highest character is 270-ish) through some bounties. Fair 'nuff. People criticize me for my K/D and stuff like above^ is why. Personally, K/D don't mean much. One game we won, I got like 12 kills, while my friend got 1. He got a 304 warlock bond, and i was salty. Sure. Just.... Don't base "skill" off of K/D.

                                • It depends on what kind of Sherpa tbh. I'd take someone into Trials or Elimination to train them and whatnot, and if I ever "carry", I'd want them to at least be able to hold their own.

                                • You don't get to play the bests teams unless you are carried up to at least 7-0 I was carried for first flawless a few months ago and now I typically always hold my own and have brought my KD by .25 in just the last month or 2...you get better by being carried and learn to play

                                • Who cares, there is nothing worth getting from the lighthouse anyway. Play trials for fun. Plus, good players don't use trials as validation for how good they are. About K/D, it's overrated. If I had a dollar for every time I've seen the losing team have a higher K/D than the winning team in trials I would be able to afford to pay the cost for regional dedicated servers for Bungie to use for crucible.

                                  • Where's the third option to be neutral to the whole topic? I for one don't have a problem with people giving back to the community but if you're going to do it, don't ask for money in the process. That's where it approaches being pay-2-win, as people are essentially paying for people to help them win. That's where my first issue arises, as the fact that just because you are willing to fork money over to achieve something where does that leave the people that legitimately try and try again to make it and can't. Yet someone who clearly needs the help just throws their money at these Trials carriers and get pretty much a free pass. How are they gonna get better when they get backpacked? Yet people like me, who try to get better so that they can eventually personally earn that trip through their own effort are denied. Does that mean stoop to that level and pay someone to help me? Never in my life would anything ever justify spending money like that for something I can earn myself. And my only other issue is those who get carried but then think it's okay to walk around with an arrogance and ego like they're better then those who haven't been there. Other then that kudos to those who are selfless and do it without asking for anything in return. My two cents. :)

                                      • "I have a KDR of .7 after weeks of playing Crucible" and "I'm going to the lighthouse" are two phrases that can't be said by the same person. I am the former. Do I want to go to the lighthouse? Yes. Do I want to go flawless? Yes Do I care if I get carried? No. Do I think it's shameful for me to use the flawless emblem? Kinda. But does it really matter? Hell no. It's a team-based activity. I earned it because my team was successful. Sure, I didn't earn it as an individual, and people will look down on me, but that doesn't matter. It's an experience that I want, and I'm sure that many feel the same way.
