Trials Lighthouse Sherpas, Good or Bad?

They are good, they help make a person's day and the Sherpa is giving back to the Community.

3283

They are bad, it lets people get flawless handed to them and the Sherpas are taking the fun out of trials.

Alright guys and girls, here is the deal, I have been posting of a few Trials Flawless Sherpa posts. I have a pretty high KD, a good medal score, and have been flawless almost 50 times. This attracted lots of people to reply to me. I told them to all PM me and we could work out details, but after awhile I started getting hate messages from either "Elitists" or people who have tried and failed many times at Flawless. The messages said things like "You're a scrub for doing carries, everyone needs to earn the Lighthouse with people on skill levels as themselves. If they have a 0.6, they play with maybe 0.8s and 0.7s. Stop doing carries, it's ruining trials" Personally I think that everyone should have the chance to see the light of mercury at least once, no matter the skill level of the player. What do you guys think of trials carries? Discuss freely! EDIT - If anyone wants to see mercury send GraffitiDrifter a friend request on Xbox One. I have about 50 lighthouse visits. • I try every week to get 5-7 wins. Never made it to 7 and 5 only a couple times. People I do know that play well and have seen the Lighthouse don't really try when I am playing. The people I get on LFG are just doing bounties like me and are not always the best players but they try harder than others I know. All in all, It is not a good game mode for me and I could use experienced players to teach me and play as good as they can when doing trials. I think the more skilled players are just farming coins and helping me get bounties. not wins. But these are really my issues and have nothing to do with the mode itself.

  • Only bad thing is everyone wants to get "big" by doing it now. Honestly it makes trials easy as the carry teams are easiest to beat.

  • I don't think it's any different then someone carrying for a raid. You're helping someone do something they can't on their own. Good players may dislike it because it makes their accomplishments seem diminished. There's no real way to make both sides happy so I'd rather see people get through myself then just a small percentage.

  • While I do think it is very selfless I do still disagree with it. I tried every single weekend for hours upon hours in order to build up my skills and finally go flawless. It does feel a bit like that is kinda shat upon now that literally can go flawless with next to no practice, effort or skill. No salt, just an observation

  • Who cares if someone gets carried, if they suck, they'll still suck even with a adept weapon and emblem.

    • I think it's great what you're doing. Its nice to see a decent PvP player who seams to be down to earth rather than a elitist bell end. I'll see the lighthouse one day. Until then I'll keep trying 👍

      • Look man. If you find people who can get you there...that's awesome. You do need a team to do trials. Every team has a weaker link. Am I the best? Absolutely not. But I know how to make friends and I've been doing trials with my friends since it started. They used to carry me. Now I can hold my own and we go flawless a lot. I mean, less now cause they are always streaming and helping others. But still...we are cool and do non trials shit in game as well. I can only wish this to happen for all yee scrubs.

      • There is literally no difference between Sherpa's and mixed skill friends teams when it comes to impacting the quality of ToO. The idea that Sherpa's ruin trials makes literally no sense what so ever...

        • I do ps4 sherpas every weekend. You'll always have elitists on these forums. I totally agree that everyone should be able to make it to the lighthouse. People seem to think that the ADEPT versions of weapons are going to turn someone with less skill into Pvp beasts. At the end if the day it's just a game and it's fun to help others out.

          • Never been to the lighthouse as I don't have friends who regular PvP. Been playing since the alpha and I feel like Trials is the biggest part of the game I'm missing out on.

            • People who help others for fun are awesome, and if you help others in any way, you're greatly appreciated. People who charge money for stuff tho are terrible people. The destiny universe dosent hurt because a noon went flawless or finished a raid for the first time, the only change is that one person is happier for a little while.

            • Zero problem with someone helping people get to the Lighthouse out of the goodness of their hearts. Big problem with it being revenue for a streamer. Personally I think that if you're a supposedly elite team, playing a team being carried by a sherpa should mean an easy win.

            • I've been on both sides of the coin. I've helped others (feels great) and I've been helped. The first time I completed King's Fall was because of a group who were scanning the forums looking for others who needed some help. They didn't even get any rewards or loot, they just wanted to help make this community a better place! Anyone doing that, whether it is Trials, raids, or whatever is what makes the Destiny experience special. They should get the attention!

              • Destiny: a video game where ppl adopt all types of terms and give them w.e. meanings they want. Sherpa: a member of a Himalayan people living on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, renowned for their skill in mountaineering and taking inept guardians to the ToO lighthouse. Carried: a guardian that's a disgrace.

                • Why is there no "I couldn't care less cause it's a video game" option?

                  • On the larger scale, I really don't care because Destiny is an ok game, but nothing special. So I'll answer this as carries in general on all games... they are bad. Not just bad, they are cancerous... I saw one guy on LFG advertising a service to carry people through the raid for money... It doesn't surprise me that some worm has seen an opportunity, but it's extremely disappointing. Anything which is considered as the highest tier of a game should have to be earned fairly. The problem is that the money people can make off twitch/youtube these days if they get enough of a fan base, is ridiculous. I'd personally love to see all streaming media channels have such pathetic payouts per view, that it would be near impossible to make a liveable income from solely streaming every day.

                    • Personally I don't care if people get carried it doesn't effect me at all. That said I can see why some people would be upset, carries killed any kind of prestige going to the lighthouse had, usually when I see a flawless emblem my first thought is "they probably got carried". Since Yr 2 rewards aren't close to the quality of yr 1, pride and bragging rights are about the only reason to bother.

                    • If they seek to improve so that next time they don't have to be carried, I don't see why not. Make it a learning experience

                      • Destiny is a social game. If people are sharing their time with others, then I can't see it not being a good thing.

                        • Hey can I join you some time? I'm not actually bad at Trials, I went Flawless 4 times in Year 1 but all my friends that I played with then have left the game now. In Year 2 I've only had fail cards because my friends who play now aren't the best but I stick it out to do the Bounties and I wouldn't avoid playing with them just because they're bad, if you'd have me I would love to jump on your team so I can see the Lighthouse Year 2.

                        • I think its a good circle of respect. Ive done practically no trials, nor asked to be sherpaed (?), but when i first played this type of game it was the first day of destiny. I was indeed a noob. The kindness of more experienced players in strikes etc opened heaps of doors to my own playing style and i developed much faster. I am now a much better player in both pvp and pve. I keep my y1 shit k/d's and character(only played gunslinger for the first 8 months) as good reminders of where ive been. I couldnt be playing iron banner, successfully, with my clan if people hadnt shown me through mechanics, builds etc I would only make someone worse if i offered pvp help, but will always patiently assist new players through the rest. Shouldnt this be the nature of the community? For the small amount of dicks who just want the badge, there is a large amount of players who, if exposed to success will gain motivation to succeed more, and in turn help others to.
