I was thinking, it would be pretty nice if we could have two sets of emotes, One social, the ones we currently have, and a second set that's combat oriented. This mainly comes up because I quite often find myself in strikes with people that don't know what they're doing (such as sitting around with their fingers up their noses on heroic nexus mind instead of killing off adds).
I was thinking by default the 4 most common emotes I could think of using would be:
Up - "Focus the Boss/Target"
Left - "Get In Position / Move Up"
Right - "Focus the Adds"
Down - "Retreat / Fall Back / Get behind cover"
Most people either have horrible headsets, or the headset is far too quiet to be heard over combat, unless you have voice cranked, which makes people with constant static a headache, and the menu already takes so long to load, I don't want to wait for 15 seconds at the start of every strike/event to adjust voice volume for that particular group.
What would you guys think of combat emotes, would you ever use them? What emotes would you use?
Edit: I think these could also be useful for more than the "exact" meanings, such as more easily synergize supers. I could tell people "get behind cover" as I throw down a bubble on my Defender to notify them to run over to me to pick up weapons of light, or tell them to "Focus the Target" before I throw out shadow shot to maximize the damage buff on my night stalker.

Why did no one think of this before?! It would be great to have (for free that is)

Excellent idea, these should have been on the original game

In the army they train you to use handsignals for when you have to be quiet. I would like something like that to be implemented, for communication when people don't have headsets.

I need one that means "if you die one more time I'm going to t-bag you before I res you"

Smart. I would definitely put to use a "Focus on adds" emote.
