As some of you may know, Bungie uses universal weapon K/D ratios to investigate which guns are overpowered or used to much. They said in a recent session that the 1000-Yard Stare was sitting at a steady 1.00 K/D ratio. To them, this meant that the gun was not in fact overpowered, rather that is was just popular. I've been trying to figure out how this could be because I really think that gun is too powerful.
I am bad at sniping but even when I use that gun, I find myself getting headshots that I don't feel I really deserved. I have been trying to think how that 1.00 stat could be wrong and I might have found the answer.
As far as I know, that K/D stat shows every kill and every death by players who have that gun out and are using it at the time. But what do a lot of players do with their sniper? They shoot you once in the body and then quickly switch to their primary gun (Last Word, MIDA, etc.) to put one shot in you and finish you off. Or they just throw a grenade to finish you off, or melee, etc. So in those instances, the kill is not credited to the sniper right? That would be my assumption and that would definitely throw off their weapon K/D stats that Bungie uses.
What do you all think?
Edit: Yes I know the gun is good and yes I know it is more readily available than most other snipers. Please do not repeat those ideas over and over again. I am trying to figure out why Bungie's K/D for the gun (1.00) does not reflect how good the gun is. That is why my idea is that people are body shotting and then switching to other guns to finish off the kill, and then the kill is not credited to the 1000-Yard Stare, even though it did most of the damage.

Give all shotguns the same range and impact with no perks that change either. Give all snipers the same impact and range.
