The Flaw with 1000-Yard Stare K/D stats?

As some of you may know, Bungie uses universal weapon K/D ratios to investigate which guns are overpowered or used to much. They said in a recent session that the 1000-Yard Stare was sitting at a steady 1.00 K/D ratio. To them, this meant that the gun was not in fact overpowered, rather that is was just popular. I've been trying to figure out how this could be because I really think that gun is too powerful. I am bad at sniping but even when I use that gun, I find myself getting headshots that I don't feel I really deserved. I have been trying to think how that 1.00 stat could be wrong and I might have found the answer. As far as I know, that K/D stat shows every kill and every death by players who have that gun out and are using it at the time. But what do a lot of players do with their sniper? They shoot you once in the body and then quickly switch to their primary gun (Last Word, MIDA, etc.) to put one shot in you and finish you off. Or they just throw a grenade to finish you off, or melee, etc. So in those instances, the kill is not credited to the sniper right? That would be my assumption and that would definitely throw off their weapon K/D stats that Bungie uses. What do you all think? Edit: Yes I know the gun is good and yes I know it is more readily available than most other snipers. Please do not repeat those ideas over and over again. I am trying to figure out why Bungie's K/D for the gun (1.00) does not reflect how good the gun is. That is why my idea is that people are body shotting and then switching to other guns to finish off the kill, and then the kill is not credited to the 1000-Yard Stare, even though it did most of the damage.

  • Since trials has come around, res sniping has been the popular requirement for a sniper to be considered good. Introduced with Ttk, there were 3 legendary snipers with high enough impact to regularly res snipe. One is Eirene rr4. It's the one of the omolon snipers meaning it has unfamiliar & holographic scopes. It has an aim assistance value of 21. It is only attainable from gunsmith packages being sold that particular week or given for ranking up. A second is stillpeircer. It's a hakke sniper made to be exclusive to hunters. It has an aim assistance value of 51. It has a low zoom scope & a set of barrel upgrades. It is only attainable by reaching gunsmith rank 2 on a hunter & then completing the corresponding quest. The third is 1k yd stare. It is a vanguard sniper which is the only one of the three capable of having the most popular scopes which are shortgaze, ambush, tacys & longview. It has an aim assistance value of 56. It is obtainable from the taken war quest (I'm unsure of which part), vanguard rank packages, the vanguard quartermaster, nightfall rewards screens, & rare/ legendary engrams. To even have a chance at the first two snipers, you HAVE to rank up the gunsmith. You can get 1000 yard from any pve activity.
