Micro-transactions are kind'a getting out of hand.

They should go, I'd rather pay for my DLCs

They are perfect the way they are

They need less randomness

Just as a quick disclaimer, I have been a very satisfied customer with Destiny, and I'm all up for getting 100% free DLC next year being made possible by the use of Micro-transactions. But frankly, I am feeling less and less motivated to play because the Micro-transactions are not being handled properly. Micro-Transactions should be little buys on the side that people can pick out something they like every now and then. Heck, I'd happily be one of those people. But the fact that I can't access my favourite Sparrow Racing Sparrow is ridiculous. Completing the pretty challenging main quest only gives you a 1/6 chance to actually get the sparrow you want. And if you want a guaranteed chance at getting that actual sparrow you wanted, be prepared to spend 3.99 in 5 separate purchases. This seems really stupid. I understand that people believe this system is supposed to encourage people to spend money, but that's a complete contradiction when you realize people prefer spending money on things they know they're getting. If that sparrow I wanted could be purchased for 500 silver, heck, I'd buy it up front. But the fact that it's all random and that the actual main activity for the event only gives you a 6th of the potential rewards, I'm starting to lose touch with the destiny universe. I'm feeling more and more left out as Limited edition items that are attained purely by random chance are passing by. felt screwed over from Festival of the Lost, as I purchased 6 of the Mask containers and didn't get the skull and now the same thing is re-running. You can't earn the things you want and now you actually can't decisively pay for the things you want. I am really borderline to just quit playing. After all the crap people give Destiny and I still stood by it, this is what really throws me off. It's crazy, but I'd really like to show to Bungie that this system is really hurting fans (and if we can't be seen as fans): paying customers. If this carries on I certainly wont buy the next $20 DLC, the one after that and $60-100 for the next game depending on what ever version. They will make more money off me if they introduce a more refined system.

I'm absolutely fine with microtransactions for cosmetic content. For the most part, I think the system is great. Even the masks and horns work out well because you can obtain temp version of them without spending any money, then purchase a pack, and even if you don't get the one you want there, you can break it and make the one you want permanent. I find the RNG Sparrow boxes to be an obvious tactic for getting more money and it should definitely go. Really, it's just disrespectful to your fanbase. I completed the License quest and got a box with a random sparrow in it. Okay, fine, I didn't actually pay for this one. I got one of the two sparrows I really didn't want (laurelbearer or whatever). Now I can go try to do the whole questline again with two other characters to get two more boxes to randomly maybe get the one I want, or I can spend $4-5 a go at getting it randomly (to a max of $20 since it gives you one you don't have and there's only 5 random ones...that's half the price of the game at Best Buy right now). <--This is wrong. Doing the questline with another character gives a horn pack, so you're stuck buying 4 sparrows, if your luck is the worst, to get the one you want.--> So I bought 1000 silver and figured I'd give it a go (wanted the arc one). I got the bright pink one out of my first box. I would have never paid $5 for the bright pink Sparrow. At this point, I felt like I might as well have pulled out a $5 bill and burned it, without even giving myself the satisfaction of watching it burn. What a waste. I got the fire-based one out of my second box. A full questline and $10 of microtransactions later, I didn't get what I actually wanted. Go ahead, do microtransactions for cosmetic stuff. Sure, even do it random if the materials can be used to make what you want another way. Don't force me to do pure RNG for something with the caveat of "well if you spend enough you'll get what you want." Without trading, returning, or otherwise being able to craft what you desire, it's only going to result in a lot of disappointment. The skull mask and sparrow you can only get randomly out of the horn box are along the same lines. Don't play RNG with my money. Just charge more for the thing you think people will want most, or go with the book type thing, where it costs more but also requires you to do more. Just don't make it random. Not that Bungie will care. Not that enough other people will voice their opinion about it to make them care. I'm sure the money's just rolling in.
