Let's look at how this would really end up, Mark, has a spare 320 raid helmet, Tony really wants that item as there rarer than chicken teeth, Mark says, I'll give you 150 legendary marks for it. Tony decides that it's to rare an item for just 150 marks, he wants 150 marks + $5, Mark decides he's not going down that road and tells his friends what happened, One of his friends pm's tony offering to pay his price as he really wants that helmet. The following week tony gets another raid helmet ( lucky git ), He decides that as the first one sold so quickly, this time he'll hold out for $10. And that's how it begins, before long you can buy an entire 320 set of everything off eBay to "jump start your guardian" And if you think it won't , people already offer "carrying" services for Raid, Trials etc, for the cheap price of a "donation" And let's not forget the 1000's of " John didn't give me my xxxxxxx that I paid him $10 for " posts that will start appearing

The same thing would most certainly happen with Destiny gear. Can you even fathom how much $ would've been made of the Ghorn. It would've set records.

Did somebody say World of warcraft ? Because that system works and everyone is happy. Also if Mark thinks Tony's helmet is overpriced he can still ask Paul who has 3 of them…
And let's not forget the 1000's of " John didn't give me my xxxxxxx that I paid him $10 for " posts that will start appearing.
To sell or buy things from peer to peer from mutual consent you need to follow your regional laws on the matter. Else the person scamming the other is responsible, not anyone else.

Your right about the laws and rules being there, but actual implementation is another mater.

  • Your right, Paul is still knocking them out at $4, much better option. Any time you offer player to player trading, people will involve real money.

  • There will ALWAYS be some form of RWT in games. It already exists in Destiny if you haven't noticed. People paying for Trials runs, people paying for normal or hardmode raids, etc, etc. It's essentially the same concept. The only difference is, you're not trading for a specific item. You cannot eliminate RWT from a game. Until people run out of having a disposable income, people will pay their way to achieving something.

  • True, but there still completing the gain mechanic. There still taking part and providing opposition to an opposing team, Trading would bypass the acquiring mechanic,

  • So ? I don't get you point ! It would enable people who don't have a job to get paid for playing a game and people with money to get their stuff… If Bungie is involved in the transaction, like Blizzard with WoW, they would also make money for handling the transaction… I don't see anyone having a problem in this situation.

  • Ok, I'll try and clarify it. One account, 3 toons, 3 raid runs per week. Get 2 good drops to sell, make $20, Decide, hey I can make $$$ off this, Buy another TTK, create new account, lvl toons up, swap weapons etc over, now running the raid 6 times a week, rinse and repeat. How does this affect you ?, 1, can't get on a raid team as your not a "seller", 2, can't get on a raid team as there's no point because people have bought raid gear to get to 320 quickly, No problem, I'll run strikes No one running strikes as sellers only accept $$$ not marks, Strike specific loot is to random with RnG so people just bought it for $$$ instead, Now we're all stood in the tower kicking a purple ball around or dancing in our 320 raid sets, There isn't enough content for items to be traded, If they did bring in trading people would just exploit it, They want you to help each other through the raid to get rewards, if you didn't get the drop this week , no matter, I'll help you try next week. Instead of, Here, have the one I got and next week we can just not bother as there's no reason left to help each other get loot now. Yes, they are stretching out the grind to keep you playing. Why wouldn't they ?, Why get everything you can in one go and then have nothing left to try and get ?. Mark :- yes!!!, completed hard mode and got 320 armour , full set. John :- dam, I got full sets of 320 weapons. The following week , they trade with each other, both are now full on 320. Mark :- shall we run the raid or IB ?. John :- no point , I've got everything , let's go play FO4,

Bingo. There isn't enough content. This is why we can't have nice things. Edit: Although that is true, Bungie is releasing content slowly over this year, it means once you'll have your 320 gear there will be higher light level gear coming up during the next month… Edit 2: But let's get real, nobody is going to buy loot, that's not the point… If people buy the loot, would you ? I wouldn't ! I would sell it to those who give me money to have fun… And in that case it's really not my fault if they buy my stuff than get bored… They should try and sell it, that would result in higher suply while less demand so way lower prices until we go back to the marks…

  • But then you get people treating it as a job, Mark :- Want to come a have a laugh in mayhem ?, John :- can't, need to run this raid 6 times to make some $$$, Mark :- I'll give you a hand ?, John :- sorry mate , your not part of my selling raid team, we all sell our drops as a group. Mark :- yeah, right. Have FUN then. The only time I have seen successful trading is when the developer themselves gets involved and handles it, With the butthurt eververse caused, people would go into meltdown if bungie introduced trading that they controlled.
