If we keep Bashing Destiny, Devs will lose motivation

For about 2-3 weeks now threads are filled with people claiming they're quitting, bashing Destiny and saying this game was a waste of money. When in reality most of us have a still have soft spot for this game. Put yourselves in the Developers shoes, if you created a game that you worked hard on but gaming community gave nothing but crap it once they got bored of the game. Would you want to continue to try and a game if all peoppe do is talk bad about it?

  • We critique a game because we love it. The ones who suck Bungievisions cock all day are really giving them crap.

  • Those poor developers taking our money and not giving us a finished game. I feel for them. 2 raids and prison of eldars are collecting dust while we grind the same one, again. Come on. The devs need a good kick up the ass

  • I have to disagree with you entirely. If we say nothing, then the developers learn nothing. Sorry, but I won't just "give it a pass" because I'm worried about a developer's delicate sensibilities. They create art, whether or not you feel that way, it is what they are creating, and as such, it becomes subject to the opinions of the millions that they deliver it to. Part of creating art, is the process of improving your craft. That improvement comes from criticism, whether it be from yourself or from others. How can you possibly expect Destiny to get better if you keep your mouth shut because you are worried about whether or not the creators will lose interest? If a developer loses interest because of criticism, then perhaps he/she chose the wrong industry to be in because any good developer (I imagine) knows that their work could be subject to harsh criticisms when they release it into the wild. They knew what they were getting into when they signed up. Honestly, if I were a Bungie employee, I'd be listening pretty closely to what is said here on the forums and other places like Reddit because it is from these places that I would get the best feedback, and as such, where I could find the places where I need to improve my craft the most. I will say, however, that Bungie has earned a fair degree of the ire that is getting thrown at them. While much of that ire isn't really what I would classify as constructive, it can be informative. I believe that Bungie does listen to a fair deal that is said about them, and that they do use that info to try and make for a better experience. The issue, is that they are using Mini Nukes to fix a problem that a scalpel would be plenty to fix, and they tend to take ages to implement those changes. In some cases, they change things that don't need changing and in some cases, those changes have been welcome. They say that in order to make an omelette, you need to break a few eggs, and I would think that developing a game is no different. The more we talk and vent, and kick and scream, the more likely it will be that something will get "fixed."

  • I love destiny and I have defended it and played it since day 1 but -blam!- me Refer A Friend is such a kick in the teeth. I got my friends to join destiny back last year when dark below was out.

  • I actully don't hate the devs It's the managers, the PR people and the decisionmakers at Bungie that wanna make me throw up. The devs did an awesome job at making a georgeous game. I mean seriously, I love everything aboout Destiny's atmosphere and feeling. The guns look (mostly, I'm looking at you, reskins) awesome. The guns feel unique and comfortable as if I was holding them in my own two hands. The map design, enemy design, everything is awesome. But seriously -blam!- the higher ups at bungie for their addictive game mechanics (double/triple RNG), -blam!- them for micro transactions, -blam!- them for "refer a friend", -blam!- them on patch prioritarization

  • Well they added micro transactions...I didn't just buy a -blam!-ing app did I? Besides with the refer a friend they are kinda digging their graves themselves don't you think? All they want is money now and people take notice. If they released 1 year later than they did, and actually completed the game with the quality everyone agreed it should have had, then they wouldn't have these problems. Sry Bungie but you were -blam!-ed since the very beginning. And what's worse is that I really liked Bungie. I didn't even own an Xbox at the time and I loved them. But they have lost monumental respect. Respect is harder to get back than anything. You can buy respect, you show the world that you value them and respect follows...they must not realize that.

I've been a developer for mission critical business apps since before Y2k - if users don't like it (especially because it is a buggy piece of junk that we didn't test properly or broke existing features/functionality) we have to fix it until it is right, ASAP, and continued foul ups get you canned. Tough crap to Bungie devs, get it right the first time... if they don't like it they can get new jobs

    • This is the inevitable outcome when you live in a world where the displeased are louder than the pleased and advertising sets expectations higher than they can possibly deliver in the interest of making a profit.

    • You're forgetting the state of the internet today, online trolling is pretty much a spectator sport. While there are legitimate gripes, a majority of the negativity on here are members of the overly-entitled "Worst Generation" working out unresolved anger issues online. The game could definitely be better, but I think they've shown a willingness to change things at fanbase quest. By now they know what they need to deliver to keep people coming back. I've seen enough to keep on playing, and I have to imagine bungie wants to keep people buying their products. Take everything on here with a grain of salt.

    • Bungie has earned a great deal of the "hate" they have received. Any devs that actually cared about the game itself left over a year ago. They saw early on what we as gamers could not. That Destiny was designed as a minimal content profit grinder. Activi$ion had no interest in creating a "world-beater" game franchise. Their interest was in creating massive profits with minimal effort. Why do you think they bought out King to get the Candy Crush franchise? Please tell me how time-gating quests and continued economy nerfs are "good" for a game? Does Destiny 1 even have developers anymore? Bungie claimed that Destiny has a "live" team, but since there has been ZERO talk of NEW Destiny content I doubt that Destiny 1 has any developers still engaged. They gave up on Destiny in lieu of Destiny 2. Sorry, but the community vitriol has been earned.

    • But its OK for them to do nothing? Sorry, but ineptitude needs to be pointed out. The devs are morons and are ruining their own game for the sake of repeatability.

We're excited for the return of year one exotic weapons. There's a limited amount of new year two exotics. The Strike Playlists have been reduced (depending on difficulty) and some existing strikes have just been retuned. As soon as one weapon starts to dominate in the crucible that weapon is nerfed (easier to address one weapon than buff multiple alternatives). Obvious features such as faction sparrows have not been introduced. Year one items often outclass year two counterparts. Previous random events (Wolves) have been removed. Two raids are obsolete. Time gating introduced even more. Off the top of my head I think the developers have already given up.
