Shotguns are not the problem. Map Size/Layout is to blame.

The amount of back and forth on shotguns has grown tiring. I have a very simple point to make and it is this: Shotguns are not the problem here. Map Size, Design, and Layout in almost all crucible maps promote heavy shotgun use. Here's the thing 6v6 is fun but doesn't offer much in terms of variety. It also doesn't make sense to have huge maps when there's only 12 people total on them. Also considering every map is filled entirely with halls, corners, and cramped spaces its no wonder they are the heaviest used weapon in PvP. However if there were a map(s) similar to good old "Blood Gulch" the use of shotguns would drop on these as it would naturally promote scout and auto rifles as well as great sniper battles. Who knows maybe even a few fusion rifles. Big spaces in between cover yet not without ways to move up and be protected would offer a nice change and possibly promote new game types. Rift, Salvage, and Zone Control would all do well on bigger maps. TL:DR. Bigger Maps, Less Cover = Less Shotguns, Bigger Weapon Diversity.

 • Honestly having power weapons on spawn with ammo at the beginning of the game is another factor to consider. In halo shotguns and snipers are considered so powerful that only two of them can exist at the same time. If the default loadout was AR/shotty or sniper the game would be absolutely miserable with the number of one shots going off left and right.
