The Sunbreaker is the Titan's savior; the answer to the prayers of many Titans including myself. We were the underdogs; the least played and least effective PvP class overall...until September 15th. Then everything changed. Sunbreaker is the most powerful thing I've seen since Bladedancer and even that pales in comparison to Sol's mighty Hammer. We are now the most overpowered class in the game for all activities. But why is Sunbreaker overpowered? Well I'm sure we all know why but let me tell you just in case. [i]Reason #1: The Armor[/i] The Sunbreaker mid-super, has more armor than any other class in the game, the only other super that might beat it in this department is an Armor of Light Titan but at least they're confined to their bubble! The Sunbreaker is a walking and flying blitzkrieg. We can throw up to 7 hammers within the maximum 30 second time period that we have it. No sniper can one shot, no shotgun + melee combo can one shot, Nova Bomb might but I don't know. The only thing that I know can one shot a Sunbreaker is a direct hit with an RPG but good luck with that. [i]Reason #2: Time Available[/i] The Sunbreaker lasts for about 21 seconds which means a Titan has ample time to hunt down the opposition; much more than Golden Gun, Sunsinger or Bladedancer. In conclusion, Sunbreaker being this overpowered is dangerous to the balance of Destiny's PvP which has been improving slowly over the last year. Bungie needs to nerf the Sunbreaker soon or Destiny's PvP, combined with all it's other issues will die out. Bump this to Bungie HQ!

  • Sunbreaker is the only super Titans have that both defend them (damage reduction) and enhance their ability to kill. Hunters have their Bladedancers, who have killed me while I'm in super so many times it's not even funny, and Warlocks have Sunsinger, which can either enhance their defenses or be used to self-ress. Also, this happens to be the only long range super of the Titans. Hunters have Bladedancer which gives the option of a midrange special attack while in super or invisibility, on top of their Gunslinger Golden Gun and now Shadowstalker Voidbow which suppresses ability's and supers while also slowing their targets movements. Warlocks have the self-revival power of Sunsinger, the AOE Novabomb of Voidwalker, and now the fast charging Stormtrance of Stormcallers. Not to mention their already longer ranged melee has been extended even further with the Stormcaller. To be honest, I'm quite happy with Sunbreaker as I can now actually stand a chance in PvP where as before I avoided it unless I really had no other choice. Yes it can seem OP, even I can admit that. But look at what else we have to work with when in PvP. Striker best ability is its super which unless the enemy's are grouped up its not really that great an idea to use. Defender has its bubble, but it has no attack capability on its own and it's only other real appeal is its suppressor grenade, which can just as easily backfire on the Titan if thrown wrong.

  • This is what I think needs to happen: -Nerf base armor to 50% damage reduction to bring it in line with the base armor of all of the other supers -Make cauterize in the same column as Forgemaster. This would make you have to decide between the 2. You could pick between having a ton of hammers and having health regen. Correct me if I'm wrong but you get 5-6 hammers with forgemaster. Compare that to golden gun with 3 bullets and less than half the armor, no health regen, and less super time. Does that seem fair? -Slightly nerf proxy detonation and blast radius so that it's a bit harder to use. -Sunbreaker lasts 20 seconds. Take the time down to 15 and drop 1 second of super for every hammer thrown. Now it's balanced IMO. Also running the other way or using your own super on another is NOT a reasonable counter. Every other roaming super can be one sniped out of theirs by a non exotic TTK sniper. Black spindle is the only TTK sniper I know of that can kill one. Disclaimer: Don't call me a whining hunter because I'm not. Also I'm not a BK that never plays crucible my medal score is over 1M and my KD is 1.58. You guys might think this is too far and if it is tell me where I like feedback.

    • Can I just point out that kills from burning don't trigger Cauterise? Sure, if you get a direct hit with an incendiary then it's a guaranteed kill from burning..but there's the issue of evasion - if you don't notice the 'nade you deserve to be killed by it. Also, the Striker and Defender perks Unstoppable and Untouchable [u]both[/u] increase the base armour stat for the other two one-and-done supers. Do you want those nerfed as well? As it turns out, the Max armour of a Sunbreaker is less than either of those other subclasses. I'll admit it, the DR whilst HoS is active could do with being toned down a little (to 50% from whatever it is now)..just bear in mind that any changes made to satisfy the PvP crowd will also impact on PvE.

    • Its nice to see someone who plays titan actually put up a decent thread on the bungie forums for once, i main a hunter for pve but for PvP i always use my warlock i feel like there abilities chain together better but i have also played a titan SB and just don't get on with the kit, i mean it makes no sense do they mean you to be a full tank or a full damage machine ? Not sure !! I personally think SBs do need to be looked into and the only thing that needs nerfing is there damage resistance or armour while there in there super, no one should survive a head shot from a sniper no matter if there in a super or not and when you can survive a GG bullet then you know its a little broken, the only other thing that is broken is the health regen perk they get when they kill someone with an ability i mean its fine with grenades and melee but shouldnt work on a hammer kill. All in all bungie just needs to tone down the armour of a SB while there in there super and not put health regen on for hammer of sol kills or at least allow 3 of coins to work on them :')

    • The only thing that is powerful, is the super, the melee, grenades and all other neutral abilities are lackluster. But when is a super not the most powerful thing on a subclass? I personally think that Sun breaker is balanced with a crappy neutral game and an excellent super game. If both were really good, then I think that changes might need to be made. Its very similar to the Striker, which has a good neutral game and an average kind of bad super. Same with Defender. The Gunslinger also has a kind of bad neutral game with a really good Super game. It is all balanced out.

        • Someone actually gets it and isn't biased. But also a direct rocket will not kill no matter what. Only black spindle can 1 shot (but it's a PvE weapon so doesn't really count) and fist of havoc and nova do kill but it's too situational. I like your post thought

        • I really wish people would understand that if there's this much complaining about one thing its clearly a problem. Just think about how many people complained about thorn. The main people who dont want it nerfed are the titans that feel victimised.

            • Fried a Sunbreaker the other day with FOH. I bet he was a little surprised. Kinda tired of seeing posts that call for Nerf's in general. I would rather see on that focuses on how to adapt and over come then calling for a rule change.

                • Hammer of sol is so bullshit I haven't even done the quest on my Titan. Also, the night stalker is so cheap I haven't done that quest either. I can kill a hos with stormtrance, but the Titan can usually kills the other 5 guys on team. Outrageously hard to take down. Instakill walk around super with massive armor that heals with every kill with range. Bullshit incendiary grenades that land 30 ft away and burn you to death. Health regen on all ability kills gtfoh. Night stalker is thorn incarnate. Nut ass poison grenades that -blam!- up your movement and blind you. Stupid ass voidwall grenade. Hunters are p€%%%€€ and the whole night stalker class is just made to -blam!- with people and get quick kill. Hunters play so dirty. Warlock master race.

                  • Yes HoS is overpowered but not because of its damage or health regen. It is only overpowered because it is so move so quickly (titan skating) and have massive amounts of armor. I would like to see the titans lift ability taken away when using the super or slightly lower armor. (low enough armor to be killed with 1 GG shot) Also i believe it should be a one shot with a sniper to the head but only a 1000 yard stare type of sniper. (Higher impact lower rate of fire) that is how I would like to see HoS be nerfed.

                  • As a Titan, I must say, it is great. F y'all that think that it needs to be fixed, they mocked the speed of the hammer throws down, they reduced time usable for them, and it is not that hard to kill one. Maybe you just suck? Also Warlocks are still mutha f'in op. Long ass melee, respawn on a dime, and more dumb health than any other class in the damn game. Fix those assholes bungie.

                    • U are so wrong gunslinger 2shots or 1 storm caller 1 shots people with landfall then kills others that's op hammer can be killed easy storm caller can not stop crying cause u heard a hammer and ran and cried.

                        • Even though much of this is true, you need to consider the titan as a whole. Their melee doesn't stand up to that of a warlock or a hunter even though they are built for close combat. Hunters and warlocks can blink and evade while the titan can be slow and clunky. Until recently, their grenades were the weakest as well. Additonally, unless you have your intelect all they way up and have a good game, you will not be able to use it more than a few times a game anyways. Keep the titan special where it is and give them a chance to compete.
