Bump. Well written and thoughtful. Here's the bottom line though: what you describe does not fit with Bungie-vision's ultimate goal. They want maximum playtime for maximum investment. They want to bend, stretch, and twist existing assets in as many ways as possible to keep you grinding. The more you grind, the more likely you are to keep paying them. This wouldn't be an awful thing if Destiny had launched with an epic amount of sandbox space to play in. But instead, Destiny launched with merely (some say barely) a sufficient amount of sandbox space. Unfortunately, Y1 weapons were so good and unique, and the drive to obtain them such a critical motivation to keep you playing, that with infusion, Y2 weapons were obsolete out of the box, in comparison. The only choice to keep you grinding was to force obsolescence of Y1.
